ive been out twice in the last two weeks and both times ive found ticks on me ..today i wasnt even in high grass or anything i looked down my shirt and there is one on my stomach completely freaked me out ,ruined my fishing day had to go home to shower . is there any kind of repellent you can use or anything?. , this is the start of the season and i havent even gone to my spots that are covered in weeds and grass. i live in the niagara region . anyhelp would be greatly appreciated

Deet should work some but let this be a reminder, just because your vet says start in June doesn't mean you can't give your dog it's tick/flea meds now. We started it's at the end of last month after finding a tick on our newest pup.

get some nice cotton/linen longsleeve type stuff tuck it in. wont get too hot and will keep em out. also deet may work but i find that ticks really dont care bout repellant in my experience.
if you are like me and get really bothered by high heat, not much you can do except be vigilant :)

also if those ticks bit you, get checked for limes. and make sure the doctor is competent. it can be mistaken for many other common ailments untill its too late.
-you probably know this already but for anyone else who comes across this-

Shmogley is going in the right direction with a long sleeve, but here's a few tips:

Cotton tends to absorb moisture and does not wick it away - so if you sweat alot, not a good choice. A better alternative for a base layer is the polyester sportswear shirts. They'll keep you cool and dry off incredibly quickly so you don't need to worry about moisture on them. And you don't need to spend ridiculous money on Under Armour sports apparel.. Old navy, for example, has a great line and it's quite affordable.

ticks like lighter clothing rather than dark....this could be a wifes tale but iv never gotten a tick on me. i wear dark jeans, black socks, black shirt, and dark shoes.
im in thick heavy shrubbs and tall grass and iv never got one.

another tip lyme disease does not take affect till 36 hours if the tick being in you. but normaly you will feel the tick biting u lol.....then just take it out. headfirst
