wow thanks guys! i'll try and get out reel soon (get it? REEL soon  hahaha i thought it was funny ) and try some roe. thanks again for all your suggestions! does anyone know if the steelhead are in their runs right now? does high water levels mean the fish are coming in to spawn? sorry for asking alot of questions, as i said im noob in the trout and salmon category

You should go to your local library and pick up a couple books on trout and salmon. You learn a ton real quick and easily.

Jmatt: thanks for the tips!!

fisheads: good idea! thanks for all the help you guys really appreciate it i will definitely try to do a report once i go out

I haven't been out on the notty for a while but I have been doing well on other northern tribs this past week and weekend. Just because they are high and dirty doesn't mean you can't get fish.

Got a bunch within 5 feet of the shore in just a couple feet of water.

well we're getting a load of snow this week, water levels are probably going to stay high. I'll go anyways, better than staying home doing nothing

fish heads has a good sale on right now, $15 for more than you'll use this season
6 ounces of roe?? I can go through that in a couple days when the fishing is hot! Not saying its a bad deal, but it's sure not a whole lot of eggs! I do however favor golf balls over tiny baits! When the time comes for smaller presentations I generally run singles or bugs!

hit a GTA trib, or somewhere further northwest than the notty and it will certainly be better than sitting at home :)
im just trying to save you some frustration because you're gonna be upset if you travel all the way to the nottawasaga only to find out it's impossible to fish.
like i said, it is unfishable. i don't mean it's a little bit high and dirty, i mean it's raging fast insane currents and several feet higher than normal flow. even with IDEAL conditions it wouldn't be good to go again until at least the weekend. it's a big river with a ton of feeders.

Other than the fact Mike is a prince of a guy offering great customer care and a staunch supporter of our site...he provides ETHICALLY harvested roe...

for a hardcore experienced float fisherman, 6oz isn't much, for a beginner, 100+ bags will be plenty assuming you put 12-15 eggs in a bag at an estimated 1200-1500 eggs per 6 onces.

thanks for removing that post

I was not trying to be rude or mean to anyone :)

if you want to start drinking heavily and require antidepressants try it on a fly rod. the word skunk..redefined lol
 You should write up your experiences thus far with the fly rod, I imagine it being a comical read. That right there must be one of the funniest responses I've ever read, thanks for the laugh.
