I will be camping on the Bruce peninsula a great deal this summer. I've never really targeted trout in this area but have heard people fish a couple piers in the area and get lucky once and a while. Just looking for basic lure advice perhaps a rigging technique suitable for shore/pier fishing. Should I just throw spoons and spinners? Are worms or minnows an option? If so should I fish them under a float? I do have slip floats. Perhaps a vertical jigging spoon under a larger slip float?

You sound like you have it basically figured out. Besides the jigging spoon under the slip float you could replace the jigging spoon with a berkley power minnow.

Thanks for the reply staffman, would the same usual fishing times apply? Morning and night or would it be worth an afternoon trip?

Ya looks like you have the basics down pat. I would recommend you use Fluorocarbon fishing line. I would recommend Seaguar as your leader line and maybe a strong mono or small diameter braid. Longer rod will help you get away with using a lighter lb. test line. Slip bobbers are probably best for this setup to get your bait out a distance.
