This is Milliken Park Pond at McCowan and Steeles. The best place to park is the lot off Steeles... going east on Steeles, it is the first right after McCowan. The pond is near the southern tip of the parking lot.
I arrived at this location at about 7:00 AM on a Sunday morning, and stayed for an hour. I saw nobody else fishing. There were lots of people in the park though, walking or doing Tai Chi, etc. Here's a couple views of the pond.
Looking north from the "west" shore.
Looking south from the "east" shore.
This pond has lots of thick plant growth all around the southern half. Fortunately, there are quite a few access points, especially along the "east" shore (i.e., side closest to parking lot).
I caught four largemouth bass here in about an hour, all decent-sized. Actually, the first three were caught in the first 10 minutes. All were caught along various points of the "east" shore.
First cast.
Second cast.
Fifth cast. ;D Yeah, by this time I was pretty happy. I didn't expect to catch 3 fish in my first 5 casts! Of course, they stopped biting at this point. I didn't see another fish for half an hour.
Last fish, after I don't know how many casts. You can see the spinner I was using. This spinner actually caught all 4 fish, although I tried others during the half-hour where I caught nothing.
Other notes: The south end of this pond is apparently the home of some very large goldfish. I saw a decent-sized orange one, and a big white one that's got to weigh around 15 pounds.
The park around this pond is pretty nice. There are some picnic tables, and lots of space on the grounds for picnics, recreational activities, etc. There are paved walking trails around the pond and in the woods around the park.
All in all, I was pretty satisfied with this place. I will definitely return sometime, possibly to catch one of those huge goldfish.
