Hi, I was wondering if anyone one was going to the Toronto Sportsmen Show. I have been going for the past 3 years and it gets better and better each year.

I might. Havn't decided yet. I went last year and really enjoyed it but was there looking for a good bow with a decent price. This year looks to be more fishing stuff than last year so I'd like to check that out.

I went today and all I bought was a new Lowrance fishfinder from Radioworld, cheaper then LeBarons. I haven't been in years and honestly wasn't that impressed. To get from one hall to the other you have to walk a good distance and go up and down about 6 sets of escalators which is not a big deal for me but, no clear signage where to go. Senkos were overpriced. Ignorant pushy people. Was very busy for a first day morning. I did use the $2 off coupon. Parked just down from East Side Marios and paid $2.50
for the hour which was enough time instead of the rape amounts on the lots, was lucky.

Deals were not the greatest. Better off going to the reel trade in at BPS. Even with no tax at LeBarons, other vendors were still cheaper.

I agree with you Dirk, I went last year and was not impressed with the whole set up. the long walks of escalators with nothing to browse at and then you get to the section and realize it was a waste of time to go to the section because nothing was marked properly. I will not be attending mostly for that reason, but also because I just had 2 knee scopes in the past 3 months and all that walking around would do me in.

Thx guys. I know the bass pro shop is good for deals but, I know this one store, I can get the raven float reel for $25 cheaper then bps. That's my line set up. Lol I did alot of driving an searching for a reel ly good deal. Lol

Just wondering if it was worth to go and worth the deals. Thx again

I'll be going for my first time this year.

I'll be in the market for a new freshwater rod, for I snapped my carbomax in a car door last labour day weekend. :x

The Sportsman show makes a neat outting, if only to find tackle the stores are trying to offload that you've had a hard time getting more of. Still at 19$ just to get in, I have found I never manage to make any of the discounts worth it most years. Then again I generally buy bigger purchases such as rods and reels at retail stores, and on a whim at that. However when I feel like the new year needs a new rod or reel I've found more often then not, even if I don't get a discount the odd ball rating is to be found at the show to make it worth it.

That's the thing...It was a Shimano, but I bought it about eleven years ago, and I have no clue where the warranty papers are.

I will not be so careless this time!

Not all Shimano rods offer the lifetime warranty, it's only the higher end rods like Crucials etc. Check the model then go to the Shimano site and click on that model and under warranty, see what it says. If in fact it does have a lifetime warranty, I would take it back to where you bought it or any store that sells those rods and see what they say, or call Shimano. They should replace it if it qualifies.

I ended up purchasing a Shimano Compre spinning rod. It comes with a "limited lifetime warranty". It will never even touch a car door.

Also, the child in me just had to get a pic with Bob and big Jim :-o

^Nice!

In the late '80's Bob used to drop into our local community center in Downtown Toronto's, West End and take everyone fishing on weekday trips..... I will never forget those days!

Bob's a great guy in my book.. And one hell of a fisherman. :)
