should i use spinnin rod go with live bait ex. worms, minnows... or go with baitcaster with dark baits(which ones work the best at night)??

Night fishing for Bass..... NOW YER TALKIN!

Night fishing for Pike? Not so good, I can count on one hand my night time, lifetime pike

For bass at night, heck, make a noise! Rebel Pop R chugged on the surface, Zara Spook or Heddon Torpedo ripped and stopped.... Arbogast Jitterbugs, Hula Poppers.... it's all about surface action at night for bass on the prowl in the shallows

soo your saying the more noise i can make the better ....how about buzz baits???? should i also go for using live bait???? should i still try to go for drop offs, logs cover etc.u mentioned shallows?!? like flats?? trhanks again for the tips and advice "Dugger

Topwater

I highly recommend jitterbugs and skitter pops. Last month I was having good luck with a glow in the dark mepps too.

This fish slammed it while I was running it shallow beside a weed bed around 2 A.M.

It's early morning... lol just got back from some night fishing (Seriously).
I'll elaborate some tomorrow.

For know, lets just say: It's all about ACTION and SCENT (sometimes both combined), There is some "benefit" to the GLOW as well.

BOB MARLEY also helps out a hell of a lot! *SMILES*

MORNING ALL!

Top water bass at night is the best, especially when you cant see your lure very well. I like the torpedo's myself...

ZZZ *pause* ZZZZZZZ ZZZZZ *pause* ZZZZ *splash* FISH ON!

+1 for bob.

night strikes on topwaters are the best not seeing whats going on then.... BANG! wait until you feel the fish before you set on them

wow getting very excited to go..... plan on goin tomorrow night, my choices are bluffers park, rouge park, and frenchmans bay.. which would be the best to go to ??

went out last night to rouge park and frenchmans bay . rouge park only caught two catfish small lil babies, and at frenchmans bay one ver lil rock bass.. :( hook worm bobber setup. got home around 5ish wasnt sure where u can fish from so we stayed right in the middle at the entrance..

If you are fishing on a boat and want to fish at night, take note of extreme weather change pattern around August to September months.

Based on my experience fishing nIght time on a boat during the transition stage from summer to fall, Fishing was not necessarily more productive than fishing early mornings or right before dark. Evening fishing seem to be very effective only when daytime weather temp was consistently hot for days at around 30-35+ degrees, bass need to hide from the Hot summer temp during daytime, they do come out at night to feed actively.

I did a research by myself to find out if fishing was any better during night time. Fishing at night has a different aura, we tend to rely on our sense of hearing and feel more during night fishing since our vision is sacrifice. Man issue with fishing at night.........BUGS! BUGS! BUGS!

Criteria: I fish on a Lake that we were familiar with, knowing our success catching rate during daytime, we then compare our daytime fishing experience to night fishing. We fish on different conditions ................during a Full moon, a New moon, on wind up to 20km/hr to calm evenings.

Our overall findings and recommendation..............fishing for bass during night time was not necessarily any better then fishing for them during daytime.
Fish activity tends to shut off from 11pm to right about day break. Rock bass and perch seem to be at the feeding frenzy ,the last species to be consistently active right close to 11pm.

One main issue we observe that cause fish to shut down at night was the extreme temperature drop of 10 degree temp change between daytime and evenings , the extreme change does affect fish activity at night. While temp changes within 5 degree difference during day and night , fish will still be somewhat active during the night. Any temp close to 10 degree change generally completely shuts off fish activity regardless of night fishing under strong or calm wind, New moon or Full moon.

Other temp changes to consider were changes within few days before we head out. 3 or more consecutive fishing days with temp within 5 degree difference were better fishing days for us .

Fishing on a river system is less susceptible to barometric pressure change compared to fishing on a lake, current flow is one issue that consistenly affects fish activity.
