Congrats

IMO never ever put hands on the blank unless snap there goes the rod.

Thanks guys.

Is this Chinook a Male or Female?

Thanks for the heads up.
I was confused on how to land it, I never owned a rod this long before. Also I had branches above me that would cause me to tangle.

watching it atm. landed like a champ, way i told you. why is your clicker on? should not be on, also strip line before setting your rod down, one bounce and snap can happen.

Thanks for the tips, I'll make sure to do that on the next one.

insta you did a great job, what might help you out in the future is to hold the fish on it's back and it won't squirm around so less chance of dropping it but like klik said "landed like a champ" ;-)
Hold the fish on its side with support?

nice work man! love the thumbs up to the other angler at the end - good stuff!
He watched through the whole fight and gave me the thumbs up. It was a good way to end the release.

nice steel,

another piece of advice, move the bead closer to the hook, looks like you have it 6 inches above, should be 2 inches at most, especially if fishing just the bead

pretty good job fighting your first steel man! Those salmon gave you a good warm up lol.

I actually went 0-10 before landing this steelhead. I hooked up another right after but my line snapped at a knot in the middle of my leader. The more I fight them, the more confident I get to landing one.
