Hey all! Going to be doing some deep lake fishing with a friend up at Kushog Lake. We're going for lake trout primarily. Never used a dipsy diver before, but gonna try and see what happens. Can anyone give me some basic tips for using it? For instance, how do I know how deep it's getting down once we move (and how deep should it be?) How fast we should troll and what kind of line is best (braided/mono).

Thanks guys! (And perhaps gals!)

i have been out a few times with a friend who does charters on lake O, we usually put the driver the length of the pole above leader if not shorter. we troll around 2.8- 3.5 km/hr, flashy spoons or fly's. make sure your main line is much heavier then ur leader, dont want to lose all the gear. we run the line out almost 200 yards. get to a depth of 50-70 feet i think. i cant be sure but i know it get a lot of fish....

A reel with a line counter tells you how much line you had out which allows you to let out the same amount after catching a fish. A dipsy diver rod or a long downrigger rod also is essential.
