using suspending plugs..

i like the knot to be TIGHT on the eye, as if i slide it up to the top of the lure, i get more action and the lure goes shallower on the dive. if i slide it lower, or closer to the lip, it goes deeper and has less horizontal motion...

I have lost a few fish/baits but using a leader takes my confidence and in fact reduces the number of fish i catch. If i was fishing northern ontario for 50" to 60" pike i might tie a leader on but the lakes i fish for pike produce that 30" to 40" range and i catch alot more than i loose.

Tie direct//gain MY respect. lol

I'm not really a fan of leaders (any kind) but that's just me. I use them when I'm using spinners and spoons because pike tend to inhale them. But for plugs, line-snap swivel-plug. that has always been and never lost any lure...but then again, i may have just been lucky.

I never use leaders either, though there are a couple times I wish I would have had one. Especially when you see 30"+ Muskie staring you in the face..

Im not really used to fishing these baits, I mostly have experience catching pike on mepps spinners, spoons, and crankbaits occasionally.. they don't really affect the action of the first 2 mentioned..

just gonna tie it straight on for now.. so at least if i lose some lures i'll have inthecovers respect:p

i was testing the ultra light wire leaders today.. the smallest ones only weigh 0.2 grams and still weigh the thing down like an anchor

You will be find and you will catch fish. 30lb braid is made for those toothy fish...... just dont blame me when the fish cuts your line hahahheheh

Good luck! i will be jumpin in my boat to catch some pike as soon as the ice is out in a cuple weeks. :mrgreen: :mrgreen: :mrgreen:
