i just bought a new pair of SIMMS waders as my white river fly shop breatheables were leaking like crazy, even after several shoe goo hand painting sessions lol. and i just bought them last year.

i bought the Simms Freestone waders, I believe the newer model which have 5mm neoprene booties as well as the handwarmer pocket and outside front pouch. I paid $249 for them and couldn't be happier. My link
they fit great, are FAR more comfortable than my last pair, and the fabric, especially on the 4-layered leg section seems like it will stand the test of time outstandingly.

I was going to get the Gore-Tex headwaters for $50.00 more, but when I looked closely, I was not a fan of the seams. The Freestones only have one leg seam, which is directly on the front of the leg. No seams to speak of on the inside pant legs, which should drastically reduce wear on the seams. The Headwaters line I felt there were too many seams on the leg which is something I experienced with my white rivers but wanted to get away from.

Broke down an bought my waders an boots today. SAIL Store has there 15% off fishing Equiptment an gear. Picked up freestone waders and the freestone rubber sole boots for $402.

I don't know much about the boots but the freestone waders are great, on my first outing with them i slipped on some mud and fell on a branch that was sticking straight up, my leg actually got scratched through the waders but there was no mark on the waders....I can't explain it but you'll love them.

I have put my G4 Simms through a ton of bush bashing and several falls like stated above.....No leaks no damage just awesome waders....The splash pants are not necessary for Simms gortex.

You can find some "extreme" wading socks from a few manufacturers.. But they are all basically the same. You want Merino Wool Socks. Merino wool will keep you warm as it helps to trap air pockets and will maintain the bodies heat, even when soaked.

Did a Google search and found:

40 Below Wigwam Socks; $10; (Fabric Content: 50% wool, 48% nylon, 2% spandex)

Simms EXSTREAM wading socks; $25; (Fabric Content: 84% Merino wool, 14% Nylon, 1% Lycra® Spandex).

So, based on Fabric Content, the Simms EXSTREAM would be the warmer sock.
