As far as vest vs waist bag, i have way too much stuff that kind of out balances a vest and generally a vest really hurts my upper back and underneath my shoulder blade. recently i have invested in a waist pack, get a hunting one, the fishing ones are way too over priced and expensive. look into rocky and see if you like any of them. i have the one with two parallel zippers and a water bottle holder. very roomy, not too big not too small. reasonable price. 50 bucks at sail.
