Hello all,

I am new to this forum and it's all because of a bad day ice fishing. Such a bad day, I actually sat there and thought about how to improve my luck. My conclusion is to talk to people, learn and possibly meet up and learn hands on. Fishing is my religion!!!

I am an avid fisherman. Float fishing in rivers and creeks, pier fishing, down rigging, trolling, etc. and now ice fishing.

My ice fishing setup consist of an 8" hand auger, Rapala Fatshack2, 2 rod at 6lbs and 1 at 15/10. I went with 3 friends who also bought pop up huts recently. Our first time unchartered. We were in about 6' of water and I only caught 2 perch all day, both on the pickerel rig with minnows. I did use my other rod and tried jigging with many different lures. With minnows and without. Had a few tiny perch hit a mepps with a minnow on it, but couldn't land them.

So my question is, what depths are what species being caught at? Perch/?ft, walleye/?ft, pike/?ft, etc.

Also if your ever looking for someone to fish with, message me. May be able to meet up and slay some monsters. Would love to go for some Q Gold.

Hello of welcome to the forums, first thing is yes members on here get together and fish all the time, acouple of them where just fishing Lake Nipp, (see topic in forum) But a question Where are you from, the GTA, farther south, up north?? its alittle hard to say *ya come fish with me* and then find out we live 200KM apart.

Now fish depth, that realy depends on the lake:
Perch, I have got them in 10-15 feet of water on one lake then on the G-bay for 40 to 70 feet of water
Walleye you will want to fish 20 feet and deeper, but I have heard of people getting them in 5 foot of water when they are feeding.
Pike: I like 8 to 15 feet
Crappie: well they suspend so that hard to say
Lake trout: 60 foot to 120 foot
Rainbow: see crappie explain

LIGER are those depth recommendations apply to the average lake or its generally the depth you personally fish? just curious because I think by next week me and my brother will go freestyling on a lake, I know for a fact that there is lakers and whitefish there, if you don't mind please tell me if these depth apply to any given lake,,, thank you

Well I live 15 mins west of Hamilton. We were trying our luck on the inner bay in Lake E. I am willing to fish almost anywhere. With enough notification, willing to go way up there. But right now I wouldn't mind just catching something. Anything really. Looking for friendly people to fish with.

that is just what has worked for me. but fish can be at any depth. untill i caught perch in 70 feet of water 2weeks ago i would of called ANYONE a liar telling me perch went and feed that deep. 3 year ago after just dropping my jig back down the hole i watched much to dislike a large lake trout just under the ice steal my minnow .. i was in 105foot of water.. fish can be where you would least expect. also about lake trout- i say fish 60 to 120 only becuz i fing after 120feeet deep there is very very little chance to release them.

I guess youre right, the fish will be anywhere due to conditions, I guess ill just look at depth maps and hope that lady luck was on my side, it will be hard to freestyle, I guess ill just let luck decide for my day of fishing, its always been like that for me for hardwater anyway, sometimes good days, sometimes not even a bite, not even a little perch will take anything, goodluck to all of you who will go to the GTG on sunday then!!
