Bottom bouncing is definitely a lethal technique, largely overlooked by most Ontario steelhead guys these days... It's nice to see a report using this technique. Thanks for the share!
blair those are some nice fish.....i am happy you made it out yesterday to enjoy such a beautiful day.
salmon/ trout /steelhead magazine recently had an article about using techniques on a river that are normally not practiced by that areas fishermen
but are common place in other areas....most proven trout techniques will work on any river....there are situations as you pointed out that one is better suited for a condition
than the others on a certain day.
travelling to other rivers and learning new techniques and equipment just adds to your skill set of fishing
When I started steelheading bottom bouncing was the norm. When you fished the chute or the graveyard hole on the Saugeen no floats could be seen anywhere and everyone fished by bottom bouncing. Now it seems that some are rediscovering a proven technique. Beware though because bottom bouncing and float fishing don't mix well in the same run.
