Finally got my spare spool for my cla. Lined it up with some Rio running line and a 550 grain Rio max short Skagit head. Look at all da perdy colors, ooooo ahhhhh

They do feel nice tyger but after seeing double digit rods come back this year working at SAIL I would not trust it.

Hmm...What are the main defects/reasons?

Lack of epoxy in the tip (overall lightness of the rod) makes it quite brittle for stop start pressure. Whether that be a slack line hook set with cranked drag or over 90 degree pull... We had a rod break doing a routine speed test on a foam floor and there were no visible manufacturer defects

had to go buy a new fly reel, my sage was making a grinding noise, sent it in to sage, so bought an 8/10 echo ion for my 8wt and 8wt spey rods
