WHAT DID YOU BUY TODAY? FISHING PURCHASES

I was assuming you were float fishing. But I guess it's still good if you bottom bounce. I've never bottom bounced in the rivers so I can't give you any tips on that. For piers I would use this set up.
Main line+ 3/4 oz egg sinker+ swivel+ 3-4 feet leader+ hook and floating sacks. I find red and neon green sacks works best.
I only do this for steelies though, I chuck spoons for salmon. It works really well for steelies.
I'm so envious that you are going to get Simms, I'm sure you are gonna love them. I just bought a house, so it's gonna be another year or two before my wife let me have mine. Cheers

Can I fish my eggs like this? Bottom bounce?

Also I got some money to buy me some SIMMS!!!
I hope to buy them this week :)

That's a perfect example of how to setup a drop shot for river fishing

I was float fishing with my eggs but thanks for opening up my eyes on using my eggs for the piers.

It might be just a matter of semantics, but I'm not sure why you are calling this a 'drop-shot' rig. Coincidentally, I tried a drop-shot rig for the first time today. It was a bit simpler than the video. I attached a small sinker near the end of my line and tied the hook on with a Palomar knot about a ft up. That way I didn't need floats in the roe bag. I could adjust the dist the roe was off the bottom by sliding the weight up or down the line. Seemed to work OK.

When I used a similar set-up to the video I just tied the leader on with a blood knot and put the sinkers on to the long tag end of the blood knot.

If your flossing then tying your hook to your main line works great!! But if your fishing for browns and bows the setup in the video is much better

No, I wasn't flossing. I guess that's a term that mostly applies to GTA streams where I understand you can see whole schools of fish in a small stream. The Notty where I normally fish is wide and always a bit murky w/o very many defined 'pools'. So you'd be a very long time casting any rig out and trying to snag a fish. .

picked up some tying items as my father in law gave me an old kit he must have had in the basement for thirty years judging by the musty smell. bobbin, whip finish tool, 6/0 thread. oh and some roe, some drennan, 4lb fuoro and a cheap pair of forceps since I dropped mine last week. I only went in for roe haha. Checked out a bauer reel guy said he'd sell it to me for $300 regular $500 and change. hmmm not today as tempting as it was, layoff time is coming up...as for wants new waders new fly setup trying to decide on spey or switch
