Hooked up with a member from the forum and hit up Lake Ontario, had another great trip  Wind made for less favourable conditions for the floating pop can of a boat we were on ;)Fishing was on the slower side in the morning, we saw one fish get landed, picked up at about noon. We were cruising around balls of bait... we marked some bait fish and as we're turning around to pass through again, a larger boat just so happened to make a pass and they landed a very nice fish.

This fish had my adrenaline pumping pretty good. A new PB out in the lake, whatever the weight on it is. The picture does not do this fish justice.

"Big ups" to Tightlines Tackle in Pickering for all the help, if you are lookng for great advice, no upselling and class acts, this is where you should go.

Looks big, I find kings up to 40" are pretty common, pushing 40" is special.

Is that one of those, I won't be able to move for a week, sunburns?

Hahah i wasnt expecting that reading the title... You should see how dark i am lol, nice fish Mike.

STRONG FISH!

Looks like a beauty to land. Well done.

*I've stopped into Tighlines many times on my trips to the east tribs.

I agree, TOP NOTCH fishing store.

Mike you did not tell the whole story, you missed the smaller one that commited sucide on your line and was taken for trip around the lake:rolleyes: haha I leave you to post the victim...
Thanks though for the trip out it was a bit hairy going out but overall well worth the nail biting...hahahaha... i've been checking out downriggers and flashers so hopefully i'll have them mounted on my boat and we can go out in relative safety depending on waters. I still need to hook into one in open waters that fight was just too wicked to pass up...

Does your boat need a net man? Where can I apply?

Its all about the pilot, and not the boat itself  It was a little rough out there this evening, certanily a more "interesting" ride... Ya, I'm too lazy to post that picture up of the wee little guy oh and best of luck tomorrow dude

Wow, nice fish and even nicer BURN !!
A hat might be something to think about .
When we used to fish the Star Salmon Hunt in our 15 foot boat we used the measure system to keep only contending fish and release all others .
We used a soft measuring tape , measure the girth close to the dorsal and the length from nose to tail down the side to the fork.
Girth x girth x length = the fishes weight and with great accuracy too.

Once we were downrigging off Port Credit across from the four sisters , the water was glass that day and the sun was warm . We made pass after pass , marking fish all over but no takers .
Then we both comfortably rocked by the placid lake ... fell asleep .. engine in gear travelling forward at 5 mph , rods in the holders , downriggers set . We awoke totally surrounded by fog , absolutely silent .
Our little boat merely travelling around in a wide circle ... we then heard this sound ..like waves crashing on rocks and out of the fog came a monsterously large freight liner and when he sounded his fog horn , it nearly blew our minds . We picked up our riggers and brought in the lines and got the heck out of his way . We picked a direction and headed that way ... carefully , the fog was thick .
I saw something bobbing in the water and picked it up ... a soccer ball .. stamped on the side read , Rochester Soccer Association . We immediately turned around and headed in the opposite direction .
After what seemed like forever we would be lost in the fog ... we saw images of something in the distance and low and behold ... there they were , the four sisters !!! Land marking our return to civilization and to finally get out of this boat and kiss the ground it seemed we would never see again . We were thankful for the winds remaining light and the lake staying calm , it was a day I will not forget ... EVER !!
