Good news, I managed to get my first steelhead of this fall today on the 8mm glo roe. Something tells me the next few months are going to be awesome!

That's a great idea, what's the ratio of anise to vaseline? and how long do you heat it?

Vaseline and anise, eh?! Gotta be careful how you say that combo---watch the pronunciation!.. :lol:

Where do you buy the anise? I checked at the drugstore, no go. Health food store, maybe?

get it at the grocery store in the baking aisle "anise extract" not "anus extract" that would be gross lol sometimes it's called star anise

This is what I did, took some aluminum foil and folded it into a small shot glass size, put 1 teaspoon of vaseline into it, held it over a lit candle till melted, put in about 1/2 teaspoon of anise powder (not whole star anise). Mixed thoroughly, but anise still sank to bottom, poured into container to let cool, I use a round pill box and made other "flavours". Even though the anise settled to the bottom, the rest of the vaseline still smells like anise.

Yes most grocery stores will have a isle for spices and it's in a bag for like $.99. I've done the same with garlic, wd40, all in the same pill box. It's help with some fish.

Another member has mentioned in another thread that if you put a dab of super glue on your hook then put the pompom on it will stay on.
