When are they all dead or so zombified that they won't bite? Last week of October? First week of November?

Should there be any still kicking around in pools in the West from Toronto to Niagara right now?

I usually get out a couple times during the spawn but feel like giving it one more shot because I only landed one this fall.

Thx.

Closing ceremony was held Oct 31.
Kidding
Still active late runners around.
I've seen them still kicking in march.
You want the fresh steel .

There is no set answer to this question. This year, in particular, the run has lasted longer and a bit later than usual. My friend caught a fresh coho with me end of November last year way down river, though I would have never suspected. What I think you want is a rough answer as to when theres really no point targeting/no expectation of them being around in catchable numbers, and I'd say early to mid November. Go fishing and you may always get that happy surprise.

Usually one good rain late October early November washes off the dead or half dead ones and that's when steels can be targetted without much bothering of the boots. That rain is yet to come

Saw 3 or 4 fresh ones moving up today. At first I thought they were steel and I almost pooped my pants because of how big they were lol

I'm still seeing a few salmon cruising around the pier and jumping. Lots of steelhead jumping but no hits yet from them, at least not for Trev.

I caught one on Friday quite far up river. She was still in good shape and had yet to spawn. But their numbers are definitely down

Thanks for the tips

I was in no mood to walk the 25 minute walk upstream at the system I have been going to. But after seeing these replies I decided it was worth it. I saw 10 on the way up. Surprisingly, most still looked pretty good.

The first two I stumbled upon looked more like cobia than salmon. That's how black they were. But it was funny when one of them bit onto the other one's tail and wouldn't let go for like five seconds until the other one struggled free.

Anyway, ended up landing one after 2.5 hours of exploring and drifting.
