They are still there. Dropping back and holding the deep pools due to lack of rain. I'm getting them in the deeper water near the mouths now. All beat up and spawned out.

Good insight ! All I caught today was two young punks poaching bass out of the bayfield , mnr was there pretty fast :) apparently they thought when season was closed it meant catch and release!
Think I'll go for brookies in my honey hole until bass opener :)
One day steelheads

Me watching you land 3 bass in the matter of 5 mins and you telling me to use crawfish ! Plain and simple don't take bass off there nest sites at all cost.
If you don't have common sense and can't read regulations then you prob shouldn't fish

I got one on last weekend well had one on didn't land it, felt like a snag until I saw him. He turned sideways spit the hook and said not today punk.

And that was right near the top of a major trib.

Lol huge difference between a accident and someone trying to teach me how to land OOS bass
Bass fishing is my heart
20 years on the fly
Steelheads don't like my offerings lol

You can be charged for targetting OOS Bass. Italo and Henry Wascnuk were charged and fined years ago for catching Bass off their beds while filming a show.
My Dad happened to be there after 'eyes and saw it all.
Said they were pulling them in one after the other.

Alfie.

Oh yea mnr aren't gonna slap you on the wrist!
Wild fish shortages starts with the "dumb fisherman" who doesn't read regs
Monkey see monkey do

There's no way in stopping the bass from taking your bait when you're trying to fish drop backs. The bass are really aggressive at this time and will hit your bait well before the steelhead even has a chance to go for it. If those guys were using crayfish then its obvious that those guys were targeting bass.

NOWAY!!!!! NOT ITALO AND HENRY..............

Bass would hit buggers & pinkies. Very aggressive fish on the river. I've had my share of smallies on the river fishing for dropbacks. was fishing for resi browns using buggers and caught an 18 inch smallie on a bunny leech.
