Well I guess I will see you probably on the opener eddy! I will be at either of those spots. Probably will move over from water st. to caesarea. (Unless if west scugog is hot that day.)
As I tell everyone when they look for me, asian guy with the white columbia jacket.

I'll look around for you ec1 if I make it out on Sat.. I might have to move my trip to Sunday now.

eddy, what kind of setup do you use for night fishing?

i'm always interested in knowing what others use as I don't see too many people interested in the blue fox firefly floats but myself...

I use white tubes on a jig head with a float & glowstick. To attract fish, I also spray my tube with the YUM clayfish spray. It worked well for me last year but I think because of the the spray I use, I caught a lot of rock bass too.

How about you, what's your setup for night fishing like?

In terms of equipment, it's the same as day time...
shimano convergence UL with shimano sedona 750 spooled with 4 lb mono.
night fishing setup consists of small size blue fox firefly slip float with either red or yellow LED battery, 1/16 oz jig head with whatever colour tube that works that night.

i also have another setup with teh exact same gear but the rod is the shimano clarus UL. it's a bit more stiff... gf uses that one when she's with me.

hahaha.. i also have a bottle of some crappie attractant...rarely use it though!

I can hardly wait...
Hopefully it will be better than what I've been experiencing at Simcoe!!!

The next day after the opener, I will be picking up a fishing canoe!!! I will need to either hook it up with a 3 hp max gas motor or get a 30lb thrust electric...stealth mode baby!
14' transom sportspal...weighing in at 57lbs...perfect for my little civic...
This will have to do for now before getting an actual boat to tow around 8)

Just FYI Lebaron has a 46# minn kota for sale started yesterday for $149! not bad.... would make a caneo fly.

In less then 43hrs I will be Perchin;) I even cancelled work!!( a first)

Nice! You're getting the canoe already! Wow ..
Is it just going to be a car topper?

And I better be taken on a few trips in it then !! 8)

yup...just a car topper. perfect weight to just throw it up on the car with no real problems.

once we get a suitable motor for it, we should be cruising in no time. 8)

Not only that .. Le Baron has a no tax event on all rods and reel until Sat.. On top of that, they will machine thread your reel with Berkley Trilene Smooth Cast for $2 until 9pm tomorrow. You can bring in your own spool for them to thread too.

I end up buying 2 rods and one reel. LOL..

Will a 46lb thrust use up more electricity than a 30lb thrust?
I would like the battery to last as long as possible. I guess it ultimately depends on what setting/speed you have them on and for how long.

Woohoo! Just about 12 hours away from opener 8)
Hmm...thunderstorms tonight and overnight through most of the kawarthas... hopefully the bite will still be on.

Max draw amps according to the minn kota guide is 42 for the 46# & 30 for the 30#. If you get a 95amp battery weighs around 30-40#s that means you will go almost 2hrs @ WOT with the 46# and well over 2hrs with the 30#. you shouldn't drain the battery past 10% of capacity. With lower speeds the battery will last much much longer.

10hrs & 50mins till opener now...Thunderstorms SUCK:(

From the looks of the thunderstorms, it's going to be over by 12am !!! 8)
GOOD LUCK EVERYONE!

Thanks for the help bigfisherman!
The boat, including all gear and people plus battery and motor will weigh about 450 lbs?
do you think 46lb is overkill?
i'm assuming that a 30lb will make it fly already at WOT hahaha...

ec1, i expect a full report on scugog by saturday afternoon! 8)
who knows...maybe i'll hit it saturday night! :p

Haha, Of course I'll post a report if I get anything. 8) I might not get too much fishing in there tonight though. If I don't get enough action tonight, I can guarantee you all that I will be at scugog 3 to 4 days within the next week.

ON another NOTE : 9 hours 38 minutes to GOOO!!!!

I don't think a 46# is overkill especially if it gets windy and you want to get in quick. look at it this way it has 5 speeds your 4th speed is like having a 30# and 5th the 46# so you can just leave the 5th speed for when you need it.
