Where to find Carp gear?

Hello everyone,
I've decided this year will be a fun Carp year for me.
I found a great spot thats pretty local and i am looking to step up my carp game.

Where can i find a place that sells boilies?
I have a SAIl and a Bass Pro near me but I dont think I have ever come accross them..

If you Google how to make your own boilies, there are tons of recipes. As to where to purchase them? No idea. I just bottom bounce worms for them, but I imagine in a lot of places you wouldn't be able to keep the gobys away.

I've seen boilies at SAIL before (maybe two weeks ago?) - it was the one in Burlington though. There was a mini section with carp baits and such .

Also whats the difference between a Boilie and a Popup?
If im fishing a muddyish bottom like hamilton harbor whats better?

I'm sure someone with more actual experience will chime in, but richard, from my reading a Boilie is the bait, and pop-up is the rig.

So, for example, you can have a boilie pop-up or a corn pop-up.

import from the UK if you want the better stuff.

but since i used a couple of carp rods from Century, for surf fishing the US east coast.. im not going to comment too much.
i dont think you guys up here hurl 3-6oz sinkers plus bait out ~150 yards to get carp..

At SAIL we are starting to get a lot more carp rigging in. As of today we have 5 different kinds of boilies a big difference to the 0 kinds we had a few weeks ago(Oshawa). That being said if all you carp guys want to start seeing things in our SAIL stores then feel free to go to the SAIL.ca website and under the contact us tab you will find a way to email our head office, this is the most direct way to show the people who do our ordering that there is a market for Carp in Ontario.

You are correct.

A pop up is a floating version of a boilie, or a fake corn kernel. You use them to lift your hook bait off the bottom, or to critically balance the hook.
Take a look at carp-fishing-tactics.com and select carp rigs from the menu on the left. Most of the usable rigs are well covered on that Carp info site.

You may not need boilies and fancy rigs over here, as we are not fishing for super-paranoid, stocked lake Carp. If you are fishing Hamilton Harbour, contact HammerCarp and inquire about joining in with the Carp Anglers Group members that fish there on a regular basis. They are very welcoming and will happily show you the ropes on rigs and baits that are effective in Hamilton waters.

I was at hamilton harbour this past monday.
i was using corn on my hook with some success but not as much success as the guys with the full feeder/ boilie hair rigs.
so i went out to sail yesterday and picked up a small bag of fruit punch flavor boilies to try it out.
im gonna practive tying hair rigs this weekend.
i talked to some teens there who have a carp channel on youtube.
they suggest boilie + 2 pcs of corn on a hair rig works well for them.

Im contemplating getting a bite alarm.. but maybe one step at a time lol.

I've seen those guys' youtube videos, I've gotten a lot of good advice and tips from their videos around bayfront and the barrier, and they are entertaining at the same time.
