Perch or Crappie?

I've never had Crappie before but caught a few nice ones last year at rice lake.

After the weekend I kinda like the Perchy;)

i lovesalmon, in whatever form i'll eat it, even raw, i'd love to try some other fish but i'm strictly catch n release so unfortunately i only get to eat whats in stores

of all fish, salmon for me too!

between crappie and perch, crappie
i don't think i've had perch before actually...

Both are pretty tasty.

I love walleye 8) , also the pike I tried a few weeks back was tasty.

I eat a lot of fish, usually at least 2-3 times a week. I buy tuna, mahi mahi and halibut and cook it on the BBQ throughout the year.

Same here I eat fish 3 times a week, I've actually caught Mahi Mahi and eat it all the time when on vaca. I've even had a traditional Mahi Mahi pie was actually really good. I'm thinking of keeping my perch & walleye catches in the early and late season this year ie, April-June Sept-Nov.

I know winter perch from Simcoe is very popular, but how about Simcoe perch caught this time of year? Is it still safe to eat?

TIA

Apparently you cannot be over the possession limit... fish in your freezer count!
I too always thought that it would be okay as long as you kept your limit for THAT DAY, but I was told that whatever is in your freezer counts towards your limit. So if you have a sport license and have 4 eyes in your freezer, you're not allowed to keep any more even if you're on a different outing on different day. If this is true, it will not last you through the winter!
Now comes the confusing part... certain zones have different limits? ie. panfish. or perhaps it may depend on where you reside?
Can anybody clear this up for me?

I guess it would be best to contact MNR directly regarding this.

Outta town for a while just checking in while I got 5 min,

Eat fish nasty

I can't remember the last time if ever I have eaten fish just plain old gross in my mind. No recollection of eating fish ever nothing.

Now I am a germophobic so that don't help but I just think of them as filters and that's just nasty!

Strictly C&R yukk!

Yes, from what I've learned its very popular, I'm told that at this time the perch taste just as good or even better then ice fishing as the water is still cold. according to the ministry you can have 8 servings of perch from simcoe a month thats the highest rating from the eat fish guide(8/month).

I had some good meals this week of some jumbo crispy white filters...mmmmm. 8)

The fish I eat 3 times a week is store bought fish I only plan to eat the fish I catch once in a while maybe like a t otal of 10 times/year. and no bass, pike, just perch walleye and maybe I'll try crappie this year.

Anthony, I think the freezer count is basically in the honour system...I dont think anyone will check your freezer even if....and then comes the store bought walleyes and such...I've even seen crappie being sold at the supermarket at kennedy and 7 at peachtree
