Ok...so my office just changed locations (which kind of sucks because of how close I was to Erindale)...and I found out that there is a creek access about 3 minutes from my new office location. So the question....

Etobicoke creek...north of the 401..worthwhile to try and fish? I was doing some legwork today and saw some small minnows and something a *bit* larger jump...but is it worthwhile fishing?

PM is fine of course!....and no, I'm not looking for any honeyholes..I'm more than willing to do the legwork required..but I have NO idea if there are any obstacles from Lake O up that would stop fish from running? I've never fished this creek before...so any and all info appreciated!

Tight lines!

its always worth it to check it out, what have you got to lose? I went and looked at this creek (more like a ditch) by my place this spring, average depth of above 3-6 inches, with pools being a foot or two deep, was holding bows, i couldn't believe it, its so overgrown its a very tough place to try and fish.

I've seen some large suckers in there. If you have success let us know, I'm around there quite often. There is a parking lot at 43.666405,-79.635639, but it doesn't show on Google's satellite photo, too new I guess. You can access the trail from there, but if I recall correctly there are signs asking you to not go off the paved area. There is a footbridge north of the lot, you might be able to try there.

There certainly are lots of chub and suckers in there, there used to be a big run of salmon but the numbers are down a bit now, I'm sure there are small runs of trout there. There are also carp at the mouth.

Be careful. If I am not mistaken that part of the creek runs through Airport property and may lead to some issues with security. I may be wrong but though I was in there before mountain biking and had some issues with fencing and such

JDean..yep...I could imagine that could be true. I didn't get as far as any fencing though. I'm certainly going to give it a try, but wasn't sure as to any dams etc. below where I was.

Cheers all!

Hey OCD. I grew up in Brampton. Never had much success on the Etob, but for Chub, Suckers and the odd Bullhead.
We used to ride the few miles to the Credit on our bikes and catch real fish.

Alfie.

The parking lot I mentioned is technically airport property, but outside the security perimeter. There is a public trail that winds through the valley floor from there. I worked with airfield maintenance there, so I can assure you that as long as you don't climb the fence, you're safe.
