Has anyone tried the x-rap subwalk?

Basically a surface lure for the 1'-2' depth. Ideal for my father in laws area (Pigeon River/Weed central).

I bought one this winter, and I thought that it just came out, so no one would have had a chance to try it.

Hmm, where did you find it? It's listed on Rapala's us website but not their international one.

lol u had the xrap subwalk for bout 2 days. it stays close to the surface as long as you reel in but for a few seconds i was talking to my friend and then it got snagged on rocks back in march when i was just testing it. might get another one in a few weeks when pike season opens.

will the subwalk work for pike what do you guys think.

I thought it was neutral buoyant? From what you've written it sinks while not moving?

sry i meant I HAD IT FOR TWO DAYS. well yeah it also had a snap on ( im not sure what they are called the little snaps the leaders have ) but mine was just the snap and it was sinking. Def not neutral maybe with out the snap. but yeah it sunk got stuck then i lost it.

when fishing with the subwalk xrap and xrap shad what ways do you guys fish them?? what techniques do you use.

Just as a public service annoucement; I checked Gagnon's today and they don't have the xrap subwalk or either of the xrap or traditional skitterwalk. They do have about five different skitterpops but that's if for surface rapala's.

Ther subwalk should be fished with a twitching action, causing the lure to go from one side to the other ( what they call walking the dog), and it would be good to change the tempo and have a pause after every couple of twitches. I would think that in colder water you would fish it slower with a longer pause and when the water temperature warms up, you would fish it more aggressively.

Also the issue with neutral boyancy in this lure would be affected by the water temperature, so there are times when this lure may actually sink and other times when it would be neutrally boyant.

I bought a x-rap shad silver at Walmart for 7.49 but if BPS is having a sale then I will stock up then. Walmart surprisingly has some decent stuff but not a large selection at all. PowerPro red any test is 16.99 i believe.

i went to BPS this past weekend and the x-raps aren't on sale (anymore) =(.

x-rap shads size 8 and the deep diving x-rap also size 8 were 7.76 each at le baron. i think BPS has comparable prices.

wal-mart does stock well and in the late fall they have some great sales too in the fishing section.

that would be awesome! does a sale usually happen during that time though? i need to restock my tackle box lol

Fishing week begins the beginning of July, and I would think that they would have a good sale on at that time. They always have a flyer with fishing stuff at a good price, so the key is to check periodically.

Has anyone fished the Shad X Rap allot yet and if so where are they most effective? bouncing off bottom? clipping tops of weeds?

What colours have worked best for you?
