Who got you started and had the biggest influence on you for fishing? I would think that for most people, it would be their dad as it was in my case.

Yup, you got that right "My Dad" I remember him taking me and my younger bother to Laurel Creek Conservation Area in Waterloo Ontario to catch Catfish, Sunfish, Carp and Suckers when we were about 8 years old or so. I remember him sending my brother and I outside the night before with a flashlight and a old coffee can to catch dew-worms and then waking us up at about 6am to go. He instilled the love of the sport in me and it has NEVER left and most likley never will.

My old man was in the service, so I dont have many memories of him. He was gone a lot at that age.

My influence had to be boredom. I got bored so I grabbed a fishing pole at a yard sale for 50c and some worms and caught a bass moments after I landed line..

Since then its been like a crack addiction.

it was...
frozenfire!!!

neither of my parents have fished... or if they had, they weren't into it and gave me the strangest look when i told them that i was going to go...

they still don't believe i'm able to catch any fish... and if i catch any, that they must be dinks

they think frozenfire is prostar

you mean....that frozenfire......isn't prostar????????

my dad took my brother and myself shore fishing.
it was somewhere along the canal road.

i remember seeing a sunfish for the firrst time! it was amazing! it had multiple colours and it swallow hooks

When it comes to fishing... well as a kid my dad always said he'd take my brothers and I out one day but it never happened. When I got older and asked about it, my parents became... i dunno what you call it, they type that don't "kill" as it means sin. They just let the butchers, and fisherpeople do the dirty work. so now my influence is my husband. He loves to fish and loves to show off so he love taking me to his spot and ties the lines for me and let me sit there!! Basically letting me fish on my own and having this silent contest to see who can get the most or the biggest fish.. LOL.. Jack***. Still! Not much, but he taught me all I know!

For me it`s my Dad, I was probably 5 or 6 when he took me and my brother to Glen Haffy conservation, with 2 small stocked ponds of trout. We where hooked right away, and continued fishing with my father right up to his death. Now me and my brother keep up the fishing trips together a few times a year. I really enjoyed the times that me and my father spent floating in a boat on a lake somewhere far away. Now if I could just get my wife into fishing...then that would be heaven.

You have to carefull of what you wish for, the next thing you know she would be the one going fishing and you'll be the one that has to stay home to look after the house, kids, or pets!

chibi, has frozenfire took you out to a salmon fishing during the fall run?
If he didn't, he is keeping the biggest fish you can catch away from you!

What helps is having a boat, so she can have a nice place to sit, with something to eat or drink, with you baiting and removing the hook.

nah I haven't gone before
there's no way my mom would've let me go during the morning of a school day!
now that I'm done, maybe I can go this fall
BUT even frozenfire says I will get too anxious and fall into the water... we will see!

For me it's my dad. He took me out when I was at the wee age of 4 or 5.
Been hooked since. It would be on and off as I grew up, but recently over the past 4-5 years, it was really progressed for me and I am now thinking of getting a water vessel to catch those bigger fish 8)

I will be talking chibs out for fall pier salmon this fall.
I've been keeping her away cause she tends to outfish and makes me feel sad. 8)
