Anyone used the topwater Zara and Super spooks for Pike etc? I also picked up a swayback spook to try out this summer.

I've got a couple spooks... they move really well, but haven't targetted pike with them.
I've gotten a few strikes from bass, but I don't think i've landed anything on them.

They work well for topwater. Awhile ago I was speaking to a successful tour angler and he swore by the Zara spook for bass ( he prefered using a green colour). I was also watching Bob Izumi and he was using the sway back spook in a blue colour and catching all kinds of pike with it.

Sounds like I might pick up some of these to test out;) I love top water action.

I went to Belwood on Sunday and although I did not catch anything I did get hits on my red and white Zaraspook. Looked like bass but there is possibility it was Pike as well.

I tried the jitter bug, no hits but did get a small bass on a jointed rapala. I need to get some Zara Spooks.

If you are going to use a jitterbug, use the large size. The small ones do not really work so well.

I tried both sizes, same with the baby torpedo and torpedo, I've gotten more hits on the smaller ones in the past thats why I got the bigger ones thinking they weren't getting caught due to the size. But nothing yet on the bigger ones.

I suppose it depends on the lake and the forage species found in the lake but usually bigger fish prefer bigger pray as they have it in their nature not to waste their energy chasing after smaller prey to get fed while they can take out a larger prey and satisfy their need to feed all in one shot. But then again some lakes only have smaller forage fish and animals so the Predatory fish only knows the smaller size fish as it's forage. There is also preference consideration some fish prefer to feed on specific forage I know that smallmouth bass love to eat crayfish for example. I am not giving up on the zara spooks and super spooks however they look awesome in the water they have nice action. I also got a hulla popper that thing greates nice commotion and huge bubbles. I think this summer I will be spending lots of time using topwater baits.

I find the smaller jitterbugs usually do not create the same kind of sound and action as the larger models do, so are less enticing to the fish.

I've used zara spooks a bunch. They do work good for pike. I always used the silverish ones. I've fished with the Zara puppy too but with less sucess, it's harder to fish with.
