i HIGHLY recommend a five piece, not a telescopic. i find the telescopics twist constantly. and though these days it's less of an issue, make certain it's not a metal ferrule five piece. fenwick makes some great five pieces in the 70.00 range. if you want to go ultralight, i absolutely LOVE...

I do suggest getting ultra light gear for the creeks to have a better time.

Puslinch lake and little lake are great for pike and bass in Cambridge, there's a whole lot of monsters in Hamilton harbour.

Oakville creek has trout and bass and, of course, salmon. The grand river is a whole ecosystem of its own, and much discussed on this forum. Try a search.

I have only had success in Spencer creek and the grindstone nearer to the lake, although I am certain alfie has more experience there. In the halt on area, mountsberg has bass, pike and occasional walleye. Hilton falls has bass. There are some nice bass at valens. Christie has stocked trout ponds.

Bronte creek has small but hearty smallmouth bass. When season starts in june, hit optimist park, just above rebecca, with mepps comets, panther martins and rapalas in any hole you find walking upstream. Closer to lakeshore, there are carp (I usually use cornmeal) and bullheads (worms) and...

i think we may try one of the lesser known lakes, if it's not too shallow. there's a lake up there called scugog lake (no, not THAT one) will fill everyone in....

i'm thinking these are fish that have been sucked through or over the dam. i try to release them back in the reservoir/lake, but only when i can without calling attention from the "catch n kill" crowd usually swarmed by the dam's upper regions

i will be in tobermory, but i fish mountsberg regularly, usually from a canoe. if you get stuck without a boat, head to the dam and fish BELOW the dam at the headwater. no one does this and i caught 17 pike there last weekend, small, but scrappy...
