I would try heavier test braid it should be pretty resistant not quite like a leader but should be good enough for a bit and when you notice it is getting pretty banged up then just cut that piece off and tie your bait to a new piece of line. Just my thoughts....

Not me LoL not intentionally anyways I need to invest into some heavy action rods and reels first LOL. On the bright side these rods do not require finesse therefore should be relatively cheap I would imagine.
