Stocker brookies look different than wild brookies

Not true. When they're stocked as fingerlings, trout and salmon are never clipped because they're too small. With budget cuts and the cost of raising fish, probably 80% - 85% of all trout and salmon in Ontario are now stocked as fingerlings. Which means now, 80% - 85% of stocked fish have no fin...

Stocker brookies look different than wild brookies

Sometimes, yes. If the pond is fed by a creek that has wild trout in it, they can and often do venture into the pond. It's quite common.

    Salmon Run 2017??

Believe what you like if that makes you feel good. But the truth is that the vast majority of those fish are ripped, intentionally or otherwise. Hooked somewhere around the mouth is not the same as being legitimately caught. If you open your eyes, you will note at least 95% of the fish landed at...

    Salmon Run 2017??

Doesn't make any difference since 90% of the fish hooked there are lined to begin with. Actually, make that 100%.

Erindale park and river fishing help

You seriously think there are any secrets about that place? Idiots been snagging there as long as there's been salmon in the great lakes. There are no secrets, everyone knows when the fish come in and where they go.

Erindale park and river fishing help

You don't absolutely need waders but they definitely do help. I still think a whip and a chair would be of more use.

Erindale park and river fishing help

The whole river is a gong show, so no you can't get away from it. I don't know whats worse, the guys chasing fish down the middle of the river with nets and no rods, or the bozos with the $1000 float reels lining fish on every drift and thinking no one can tell. The whole place should be flushed...

Erindale park and river fishing help

Honestly? Fish anywhere else. Erindale is a total circus and 99% of the fish you see hooked are snagged.

    SUMMER 2017 WORST FISHING ???

I don't know, this has been a good year for me. Lots of smalljaws and walleyes every time out.

    Salmon Run 2017??

As soon as someone posts a picture of a salmon laying on concrete, guys will begin running to the piers within minutes. Don't get in their way you'll be trampled. It's more of a sprint than a marathon but you get the idea.

    Fishing In Iceland

Arctic char are like chinooks once they are in the river, they don't hit much and most of them are snagged. Sorry to burst your bubble, but it's the truth. Fish for atlantics, Iceland has some of the best salmon fishing in the world. But yeah, you need to learn to fly fish. Start now.

    Salmon Run 2017??

No summer is complete without a bunch of internet posts asking if salmon are in. Let the gong show begin.

Fishing is slow last couple of weeks

Fish have moved into mid-summer habitats and patterns. They are no longer in the same locations where they were a month ago.

    Brown trout in kawarthas

I don't know about that location specifically, but I do know a few places to catch resident stream browns in the Kawarthas. I worked very hard to find these spots and no way am I willing to discuss them. Do some research, spend a few days driving around trying spots, and you might be surprised...

Fishing In Ontario For First Time

Try the Trent River in Trenton. The dams are good, any current areas are good. Just about any of the dams in the Kawarthas will have some bass hanging around them all summer. Lake Erie, anywhere, is full of smallmouth bass. Its best with a boat but you can catch some fish from shore. Long...

    Private Property?

We bought the property so that we could have a place to fish without being shoulder to shoulder with other people. There are steelhead in spring and fall, and resi browns in summer. We own both banks, as well as the stream bed in between. People don't respect the fence or the signs, they pull...

    Any unexpected incidents?

So now a kid can't slip and fall on their ass without lawyers getting involved. Good God, what a world we live in. No one is willing to take responsibility for their own actions any more, it's always someone else's fault, get a lawyer, and sue sue sue. Friggin disgusting.
