    Your tactics for finicky smallmouth

also thanks to everyone who gave input, i didn't get the chance to try everything because I didn't have too much time. for now i've added tubes to my fishing arsenal, dragging them behind the boat was really working on these hard days, which were 30+ degrees, they got those finicky smallmouth...

    Your tactics for finicky smallmouth

So I got up there, had 4 days of fishing, it was brutally hot and the fish were pretty inactive, but I still managed to get some good bass action on 2 of the days, though the fish were small. I fished the same shoal all 4 days (which was probably a big mistake). started off using live bait on a...

Evergreen Brickworks fishing, getting harassed a lot

people are idiots, and its usually the more opinionated they are the less informed as well, best bet is to either let it go and keep fishing, or tell them to get lost and that they're harassing you. I'm glad to never have experienced anything like that, I try to avoid conflict in general and...

    end of humber river

I agree 100%, catfish are apparently there too.. but the place seems really devoid of life compared to other lake ontario locations

Some rock bass and a largie from today *pics included*

looks like a nice little pond, people underestimate how fun it can be to catch these smaller bass/panfish, i've been thinking of buying an ultra light setup just for these occasions, thanks for the report!

    Pike attack

Imagine the pike that tried to take a chunk out of that (the pike in the picture looks to be about 2 feet long so i'd imagine a pike would have to be 3-4 feet to attack him) I'd like to think it was a pike, but I think more likely a predatory bird, all speculation though on my part

    Beausoleil Island musky - tips

I've always felt the same way about guides, and really it's the best way to learn anything in my opinion, you can always learn more from a professional instructor/guide/tradesperson. Like you said, in 8 hours these people can teach you things that would take years on your own to figure out...

Need to buy a new rod, opinions please.

I would highly recommend graphite, I have lots of fibreglass rods and started buying graphite last year, it's lighter and much more sensitive, you can get graphite rods for the same price as fibreglass so in my mind its a no brainer, fibreglass is however impossible to break, and I've never had...

    Mountsberg Conservation Area... Shore Fishing?

i've tried there once but only for a couple of hours and got skunked, there is good shore access but technically you're not allowed to be there (its CN property) so you might get asked to leave. as for how good the shore fishing is, I have no idea, I know its heavily fished though

Camp, Fish & Eat - Suggestions, Help wanted!

Hey, I know some great places to camp, but none that would be ideal for shore fishing, so i'll just skip to the rest of your questions. 2) bass and panfish are fun and easy to catch, as well as great tasting (they're called panfish because they fit on a pan when you fry them), some people are...

    Your tactics for finicky smallmouth

Jmatt, when you guys find smallmouth in the weed beds are the areas you're fishing rocky? Interesting to see the different enviroments of bass in different lakes, the reason I'm asking because I only have found weed patches in my lake productive when they're connected to rocky structure . Ace...

    Your tactics for finicky smallmouth

Lots of great info there, thanks dug. I usually look for the same kind of structure and a fish finder is key like you say, looking forward to see how these tubes work vs drop shotting minnows. I'll try fishing a little deeper, usually i'm at 15-20 fow at the same kind of structure you...

    Your tactics for finicky smallmouth

Dunlop lake, in Elliot Lake, there are lake trout ice fishing charters if anyone is interested, it's a bit of a drive up north, but it's a trophy lake trout and brook trout fishery, I encourage anybody interested in these fish to check it out, also has lots of pike, walleye, and even some good...

    Your tactics for finicky smallmouth

I get them very rarely on occasion in my minnow trap and they're awesome as bait, I hook them through the tail and they live forever and only larger bass can take it, keeps the rock bass away. Will try and catch some for sure, thanks!
