you do want to kill it if its a sea lamprey. careful if you rip the lamprey off the fish you might give it the fish a mortal wound. there are other species of lamprey that are native to the lakes and non invasive. make sure to properly identify it first.Xca said:Haven't got any fish with lamprey ... yet.
If I do, what should i do with the lamprey? A 2 min google search tells me that I should kill it ?
Thanks !

First fish of Thursday morning. Wild fight on this chrome fish.
Here is the lamprey hanging off this poor girl.

quick google search will have what you need to tell the differences. chances are if its big and on a fish its a sea lamprey.
I'd advise you to not wear a Filleting glove to land fish, especially salmon which may have some jewelry in them. If you hook your hand through the glove , you (or ER staff) can't cut the glove off to remove the hookDiana Danger said:just call me dirty diana
aww sheeeeeitWill said:No salmon this morning - but I'm ok with a surprise steelie!
I didnt even think about that, thanks. It's a friends glove that was handed to me in a pinch. I'll make sure to tell him what you just told me. Hooks in flesh are my worst nightmare (especially when it comes to my dog).Swing4Steel said:I'd advise you to not wear a Filleting glove to land fish, especially salmon which may have some jewelry in them. Tank! I couldnt guess the weight on that except to say that I think you are close. I wish I could accurately say how many lb my biggest fish was!craigsonJ said:Hopefully this pic works. My biggest from the weekend and also my first Chinny ever. Safe to assume its 30lbs?? I didnt measure but it had to be 40" long or better. Ive caught 30" steelies before around 10lbs these salmon put them to shame
Nice pic, is that a k7??PUMP KNOWS said:^^^
