Salmon Fishing at Port Credit Pier & Bronte Pier (Lake Ontario Pond)

P-Line 15lb mono (I don't really like it, any good alternative?)
Gold/Red Cleo 3/4oz
Rapala Jointed FireTiger (J13)

Nail Clipper
Sunglass (I do not wish to have hook in my EyeBall)

Fish #1 (estimate 38" short) Very fresh & very silver. (eat'able?)

The silver fish needs to go on the bbq.
The old girl is toast. Was she still full of eggs?
When the go black like that they have already started to decompose. She may go on for another week but thats it.

Really surprised there was no one fishing right beside you. Gets so bad out there you see ASS*&LES either :flossing the salmon or just netting them altogether.
I was told last week ministry got a new car out of the deal.:5 fish, 2 guys, no licence and 2 nets.= Bye BYe Pontiac!
The other float forms are asking its members to take pics of any of these guys...might deter them and save a few slite bellies along the river.

Most of the guys here have a cam ......could be an interesting composition..and save a few fish in the meantime.

Damn heavy too... pic don't do justice... close to 30lb is my guess? than again i would know because i can't guess how heavy 30lb would be.
I need to get me a weighter.

I wouldn't use 15 pound mono with your 10' rod... I personally use a quality 8 lb test like Ande tournament (if they still manufacture it).

You'll find that 8 pound test cast further when you're fishing out at the river mouths.

well, i don't want to play the fish.
i want to muscle it in quick. and release it quick.

maybe i should lower to 12lb or 10lb?

what other brand of line is good quality?

Mikey, 8-10lb iron silk should do you find.
The backbone of the 10' rod will take most of the fight.
With that being said, it shouldnt take you that long to bring one in with a fairly quick recovery time. The salmom are like warriors when in the river, far more hearty than something like a big musky which takes some TLC when releasing.

Depending on what you are using for bait, you may even be lucky enough to get a bow. Using the heavy 15-20lb line, the steel head can see it and your chances are slim.

15lb is good but yeah,,, i think it is bit on thicker side.

I agree with disspatcher, especially with what he said about bows.

BTW... I once tried to muscle a salmon with 15 lb Trilene XT on my old 10' 6" Fenwick Legacy and snapped the rod in half!

Sure about 10lb IronSilk for casting spoons & lures?

I wouldn't really mind loosing spoons I guess... but
I would really hate it if I loose something like Rapala J13. As you know, these lures cost $9+. Freaking expensive.

What about 12lb IronSilk?

I think 12lb is good #.

Sure I could use 10lb no problem but... I just don't like to play the fish for so long and hold up other fishermen around me. (if there is any, especially thsoe cranky ones).
