Yes sea run Brookies are East/Atlantic, "Coasters". Gotta luv 'em as my Newfie Bro would say.Madriverfisher said:Ya steelhead are native to the west coast and the east has alantics and sea run Brooke trout
Not sure where this rumor comes from. Maybe a few do ?Catfish said:So atlantics run in the summer?
That's beautiful country for sure, had the pleasure of seeing it one late August and stopped at the wee Atlantic museum in the valley, cool seeing the 20 foot antique rods. Too bad you didn't hook up with a chinny they're a blast. Couldn't get any to take a fly either, switched to the 10'6 spin rod and got one on some rainbow roe I had leftover from last year. Bugger took off and went under a large branch sticking out of the water, I had to lift it to free my line and boy, it was damn heavy, thought I lost him but he was still on. Heard Gaspe is probably one if not the best spots to land an Atlantic, Iceland or Norway if you have the dough.MATTD said:Come to Nova Scotia in the fall and try the Margaree river. The fishing will be decent ( fly only) the fall colors will be amazing an the scenery and atmosphere will be world class if you take the Cabot trail. Atlanticsalmon are he only salmon I have ever hooked prior to this week. I had 2 brief chinook hook ups but none landed. Today the water was muddy during the rain and they were literally running into my waders but couldn't get them to take the fly.
It does have similar features of a Brown but Atlantics in the fall turn this color after they have been in the fresh water for a few weeks. There are several distinct differences between an Atlantic Salmon and a Brown though such as fins, mouth, spots etc. Google will provide the differences in detail.Alfiegee said:That first pic looks like a Brown, not sure about the second pic.
