hope you don't fish for suckers where trout fishing is close for the season....
I don't know where the OP fished, but most seasonal closures for trout take effect on October 1st, with exceptions in specific places of course.

Thanks for reminding everyone Rybak. If any one on this forum think they know the rules very well. then can any one tell me where is closed for trout fishing that is also stocked with fish as of this time of the year???

I don't know which area you are fishing but just letting you know that most zones have Atlantic Salmon close - all year -.
ok. well can u tell me if any of the Credit river tributaries are closed for fishing at this time of the year????

hey just a suggestion NaturehasIT. let them little guys grow in peace and find a spot with less atlantics and more brookies. if all you are catching is atlantics all day you should really consider changing locations. theres plenty of spots with brooks where you wont get so many lanties.. just gotta do some legwork. also a lot of these areas have regulations on live bait so be sure to keep up to date on that. wouldnt want anything bad to happen.

they sure can be feisty though, specially the ones over 10 inches.
and the comparison to creek chub is spot on. they will literally shred anything that hits the water almost instantly. with the same acrobatic leaps common to chubb rising.
it would be great if these fish made a come back because they sure got some promising character to them

I have made a new post of the same stretch of water that the atlantics are stocked in, with brookies and browns i took out from there today.

Just to let everyone know about these atlantic salmon. They are stocked in a place where there is no way to reach the main river. the upper stretches of the creek where they reside, is blocked with a huge barrier. Only the ones at the lower stretches below the barrier would probably do well. One Guy living next to the creek told me that for the past 30 years he has been fishing those stretches of creek and caught tons of brookies in the 1990s and early 2000s. He said as soon as they started stocking the area with atlantics, the brookies started disappearing. He said he caught an atlantic about 14" some time back because the fish cant cross the barrier. They are stuck at the upper stretch. He said he took home the atlantic for dinner and was the worst fish he ever ate. He said the meat was soft and not tasty as the brookies. I even met his nephew today and he gave me some advise about what else to use on these creeks along with worms. As a matter of fact. yesterday the Guy dug worms for me from his garden because i was using a #spinner and he said thats too big for those creeks. He even took me at the back of his house where the creek runs.and showed me some of his spots where to fish. The first cast i made yesterday I got a brooky which is in the atlantic post from yesterday.I even caught about 6 brookies smaller than my little finger yesterday as well. So if anyone dont believe my story, then they should pickup their rod and start bush wacking if they really love the sport and stop arguing.
Also can anyone from this forum who has been fishing a long time, ever caught an atlantic in the West tribs?? If not well here is your answer why u havent.

well you just one upped me for jumping to conclusion....where in the part of my statement concluded? the excuse nature gave was the same excuse every "sucker angler" give when fishing a close area.

i'm not saying there's a close section this time of year. But when trout season closes, the excuse every "sucker angler" gives when fishing a close area for trout has the same tune....

It is still open, but the Upper C is artificial, single barbless hook fishing only which means that you should not,be throwing a spinner unless you changed the hook to a single barbless hook and absolutely NO LIVE BAIT

Also, the Atlantics will descend the river to the lake when they surpass the smelt stage. The dams are nothing for them to go over. They are not landlocked at the stocking locations.

Okay well the guy that took home his 14" atlantic for dinner could be charged, have you ever bothered to check the regs?? ATLANTIC SALMON FISHING CLOSED-ALL YEAR-ZONE 16. Also, when steelhead run, they jump dams, and then in the spring they ride them down again. Atlantics can do that too.

You guys are vultures this time of year, it's a wonder anyone bothers to post reports, Wow. Congrats naturehasit on your hard work that paid off, and nice fish in the other thread

I think most posters are only trying to inform and educate in the hope that some conservation methods sink in. To the original poster, the problem with worms especially with small fish is they take them deep and injuries although not intended, occur. If indeed you are fishing Upper C some areas are single barbless.

Lol. Some people just need to take a deep breath. Appreciate the passion in this subject, but lets not throw accusations.

Ok. Just refreshed myself on Zone 16 regs: looks like Atlantics are closed year round. Never ran into this myself so it is a good time to get educated.

Basically, no targeting them and if you do hook up, quick ASAP releases. Another reason for a good trout net and best C&R practices if you are fishing stretches where the MNR truck made a drop off of Atlantics.

Needless to say, they are pretty fish and do share the same habitat as the grand stream prize, the brook trout.

Don't be afraid to fish those waters with single-pinched barbed hooks on spinners. They are the most C&R friendly baits and work solid if you fish them right... and don't forget to check the special notes in the regs: the Upper Credit area is single-barbless-artifical-bait only... no worms.

Sorry bud but u still dont know certain areas on the credit watershed. I have maps and locations of every single creek that originates from the main credit river in every single village and town upstream. Where i was fishing its still part of the fishing areas like regular trout season places. here it is to remind everyone. chk it yourself and correct me if i am wrong.
Credit River and tributaries - from
the south side of the Britannia Road
bridge in the village of Streetsville,
upstream to the south side of the
Old Baseline Road bridge, town of
Caledon, Regional Municipalities of
Peel and Halton,

Fish sanctuary - no fishing from
Jan 1 - Fri. before 4th Sat. in Apr.

sorry to dissapoint u bud but if u should go there and look at the wall there, it is impossible for the fishes to jump up or down that wall unless they cut the wall to allow them through. naturally they cant jump a 10' wall when the water most time of the year is below 2feet. seeing is believing. trust me.

unfortunately the steelhead in this portion of the creek cant jump the dams. they are manually delivered to these areas.

Thanks tcp. last year i posted up pics of a few browns and i got the same retarded comments and accusations from some of these guys on the forum. I just asked the admin to take down the post. looks like i will have to do the same and stop posting all together. i even talked to another well experienced member on the forum and he stopped commenting and stop giving people advises here because most of the guys here think they know it all and they have seen it all. Instead of them talk good and encourage fishing they criticize and blame assuming the wrong thing was done or the wrong place was fished. no one tend to believe u when u tell them the truth. These so called fisherman who thinks they know, they only spend a few hours on the river per week. i spend entire day on the river. starting sun up until sundown every week. countless hours, countless kms walked, countless bush wacking, countless fish. and counless places discovered.

If you think you didn't break any rules, well and good. Nobody knows what you really fish for. Just be careful because the MNR staff around credit are very touchy about this subject. Nobody can tell you where to fish and not to fish. Atlantic Salmon survival is a bit tacky right now, hence, they close season for how many years now?
