bread as carp bait?

That's kind of weird lol, never knew carp were into genetically modified mutant corn.

I caught a 34 lb carp on using a simple worm. So don't bother wasting money on fancy baits stick tothe good old worm, find your hot spot and fish for em during the right time (early morning or night).

Oh and chum the place you are fishing so the fish congergate, fishing dun get simpler than that.

What do you chum with while fishing for carp? Bread as previously mentioned? I know I am not serving out a dozen worms lol!

It's called Monster Maize and it does catch, I got my PB on pineapple flavor last year.
As for bread, it will work and if you have a dog, bring along some dry dog food and try tossing it out if you see them cruising on the surface. A piece on a hair rig will produce if they're feeding on top.

Bread is a great cold water carp bait. See my post on Fishin Sothern Style. It can also be "free lined". That is where you get the carp going by throwing some bread pieces on the water and then you take a piece, pinch down one end of it and put your hook through the pinched down part. This will allow the hook to better hold the bread. Cast it out with no weight and wait for the carp to take it. You have to watch out for the birds when you do this .

Hi,

Bread can be a very effective Carp bait as long as the fish have not seen lots of it and have been caught numerous times before on it.

I use a very crusty loaf that's a few days old, the bread crust is more buoyant and stays on the hook longer, a large piece of crust is hooked through the middle leaving the hook point exposed and is cast freelined style once you have fed a few loose offerings to get them feeding confidently.

The takes can be very quick and spectacular as thee fish gulps the bread off of the surface of the water.

If the fish start to wise up after a while try coloring the crust with red or orange food dye and even flavoring can be used to temp wised up fish.

Tight lines and hope you can catch them off the surface.

How effective is bread for carp?
I'm starting to see a lot of large carp show up in different bodies of water and always have nothing I can catch them with.
If i bring a couple of pieces of bread and roll up a small ball to put on a bait hook, is this effective?
I would also be chumming the surrounding area too.

Keep in mind that I'm not going out to target carp, but perhaps if my target species is not cooperating, I can easily switch over to land some carp instead with a simple setup.

Ideas?
