Buying waders

The reason I was considering waist-high waders is that, during trout fishing, I never wade waters that are high. For example, where I go to fish in the Grand river, there is obviously deeper water but I just sneak up to the hole in the shallower water and never have a need to actually wade that higher water. Nor do I want to during winter. In Bronte and the Credit, you only need to step in the water near the shore and can easily get around without going into any deeper water.

I've also never understood why people have waders in the Whirlpool? You're not going to wade that water?? :shock: and then you have to climb those stairs in waders, just not fun.

Granted, but remember the water isn't always this shallow. Even though you may not do much winter fishing, the water may be much higher next year at your favourite spots. Take the advice for what it is. Just don't want to see you make the purchase twice.

I've been using Bare waders the last year and am really happy with them.I find them to be of same quality as my last pair of Simms...but I still like Simms jackets better

He could be comparing to the cheaper Simms Freestone or Headwater waders, which Bare may very well be better than. As for stacking up against the G3/G4's, not really the same league.

I walk all day often and find neoprene constricting when bushwhacking and climbing up banks.Breathable s are comfortable all season and are plenty warm in winter with some good 200 wt fleece underneath .I ensure that the boot size is able to fit some liner and thick thermal socks for cold.If you wade a lot created boots provide good traction on rock and boulder.

Went out with a few buddies friday to a local trib... knowing i'm in the market for a new pair of waders... they let me try their waders on, the first set being the simms g3 guide series and the second being the bare gold series. Although I thought both pairs were awesome and would own either in a heart beat, the bare's seemed to be more comfortable in the shoulder area. Having said that both parties were happy with their waders and have had them for a few seasons with no complaints. One thing i would need to look into would be the bare warranty as the simms seems to be excellent.
