I know this is a hot topic and I figured since noone started it yet this year I would do the honors lol
Who's going over on Saturday? Been at those island pike for about 6 years and have much to share ;) buuut need info on Hanlans point as a trade off lol I've concentrated mainly on centre island.

Zone 20 pike opens first Saturday in May per the 2015 regs.

Pike Openers:
Zone 20 (Lake Ontario) - Saturday May 2nd
Zone 16 (SW Ontario) - Saturday May 9th
Zone 15 (Muskoka/Algonquin) - Saturday May 16th

I'm a little excited for the pike fishing!

Thanks! Good to know. So the islands are in Lake Ontario so they are open but anything rivers or smaller lakes are closed.

I feel the exact same way. I have a brand new bait caster and rod along with $150 in new pike tackle that I'm itching to get in the water.

Until then I go home every night, hold my rod in my hand, hook up a spinnerbait and stand in the bow of my boat....which is in my garage..

yes, I have even thrown casts in my backyard...which has no water anywhere near it...and is only 30ft deep.

Needless to say, the wait is driving me crazy...

I was thinking of targeting pike right after the Steelhead CRAA tourney...
pump...be ready because the area you fish for pike during the winters...will be loaded with post spawn pikes...they wil be hungry again.

I'll be walking the shores with a buddy or two if I see the camo kayak you'll see me wave JDean lol
Not too worried about the kayakers but thanks though!

Any predictions as to water temps? Fish location? Etc? I'm thinking it's been a warm few days any new greens would be a hit and due to the weather on Saturday im hoping to see some in the shallows catching some sun after this cold winter. For all you boaters, deeper holes for those females. Hopefully I catch some lingering around the shallows ;)

I didn't see a single Pike this weekend. I'm guessing they are just late. Surface water temp was about 10C in the harbour and 13C in the bays

I was out fishing for crappie and could not keep the pike off my micro tubes! I went in and out of several different bays on the lake I was fishing and it didn't seem to matter. Best part was I actually landed all the pike I hooked up on lol. 4lbs fluoro was strong enough on my 5'6ft Ultra Light!
