All my A/S float reels had the drag option. Comes in very handy when the fingers are frozen or trying to land a fish all by yourself.
As mentioned I had the option of turning on or off the drag which was great.
you are wasting energy in the wrong thread my friend, A/S? in a 35 dollar reel thread? just save your breath and go with the flow like me, I have officially given up explaining centerpin mechanics and other related things to it on this site :)

So theres no difference between a spinning reel and a cp with drag?
there is A cp with drag is just a normal cp with a drag, a spinning is different as in you can't freespool as effectively

This site is made to help people fish effectively & efficiently...with what you have and what you can afford. One thing I have learned...fishing with a canadian tire combo gear, a decent fishing gear, a crappy okuma cp or what have you will catch fish if you fish them right.i will continue to fish with my crappy okuma cp...why fix something not broken? I will give this raw 2 cp to my son and buy myself a "crappy" streamside vortex....crappy because anything that's under $250 is crappy...no?

except for maybe the Rapala Classic Drifter.
I have tried the r-type rapala pin and it is good as well....for even $50 lower...all the pins are built the same way. except for the quality of materials used e.i. smoother bearings, durable metals but the mechanics are all the same.

i don't see any problem in having a drag in a cp, the point of a cp is to make longer drifts and proper drifts much easier then with a spinning reel, i would love to try a drag on a cp, as in the late fall/early spring your hands freeze up quite a bit and having drag would fix that, not having to take your gloves off and all, but a cp with a drag is much more expensive. I've tried cp.'s with a drags, expensive ones and i like them, they are the exact same as a normal on, except you have the option of drag, making it easier to land a fish, if you don't want a drag and want to land a fish using your hands as the stopper, you can turn the drag off, but i don't see the point in that.

Why dont we start another thread to debate and discuss quality of CP's?

im not going to try and not give a smart a$$ remark but, the reels aren't crappy i totally agree with you but what makes a reel good is the materials. i did however not really get the last part where their all the same exept for parts quality? in my opinion thats like saying all cars are made the same just the materials, to me thats like saying a honda and ferrari are the same only thing is that the ferrari has better materials. I know that the price has a lot to do with R&D and engineering and thats why I think that some pins are much better than others mainly bcuz of brand name, i can't see any advantage of having a ferrari to a honda besides the "I'm rich and have a ferrari" expression why i drive around in it  ams with a KP vs a raw and so on. but i think were veering greatly away from the OP and think we should get back on track

apples & oranges (comparing centerpins totally different from comparing cars) break down components in cars including engines and trust me it's totally different compared to breaking down components of centerpins...we are not veered to the opposite direction by our posts. And just because I'm using a $180 centerpin doesn't mean the mechanics are different from a $35 pin. they may run with different smoothness but they all spin...I'd say It's more accurate to compare rims to centerpins than comparing cars...

apples to apples vs oranges to oranges, you said the difference between a KP and Okuma are the materials same with cars
