It`s ok Dirk...easy there...he sounds abit young...so maybe he can read, learn and listen, and therefore become a responsible angler. I mean is that not what we are here to teach...and learn?

I was wondering if, at my age (about the same as Balapickerel's), you need a liscense to fish? and at what age would a liscense be needed?

untill the age of 18 i believe, we count as having a sports licence, as for the punishments, steep fees and banned from fishing

please correct me if i'm wrong but i think this year the regs have changed

18 years and up need a license.

Do yourselves a favour and pick up a 2009 Recreational Fishing Regulations Summary book.

You can find them at most tackle stores for free.

It tells you almost all you need to know about the rules and regs.

Residents of Ontario and other Provinces under 18 and over 65 do not need a licence, but you still must know and abide by the catch and possesion limits.

Licence or not you can still be fined, and have your fishing equipment confiscated. ANY AGE

Get the book. It will tell you about the lake or river you are going to fish. If in doubt call 1-800-667-1940

I operate a fishing charter business, and I am on the waters all the time. You don't see many enforcement officers anymore, but when you do, they seem to be fining most people who are not abiding by the rules. Not knowing what the rules are does'nt seem to be an excuse.
