think this might be my best one yet

Without a doubt it is! A couple of things, try a slightly sparser tail, and 5 ribs. Also, I can't tell if you have but a wing case but if not try that.

Good work JMatt. Use your bodkin/needle to get those hair out from the hook bend. I agree with Chris, a wingcase would be nice. My question is, 'What size hook?' Nymphs are seldom size 12 and most often size 14 or 16 - although a size 12 will get eaten at the right place and time.

these are size 8 hooks, i've had the most luck with that size, so i stay with :) yes, there is a wing case i used mylar tinsel to give it a little flash

I've yet to tie a stone under an 8, and I'd say they're pretty common ;)

heres one in olive, but i used seal fur dubbing instead of hares mask

Sparser tail, nicer wing case, better body, I think we have a winner! But I still only see 3 ribs, 5 would be nice to see especially on that size hook. Just personal preference and you can decide for yourself which you like better but I like the look of hares ear dubbing better, just remember not to dub it on too tightly otherwise you won't get that buggy look.

i can only seem to get 4 ribs on that hook, there is 4 there, just not visible on that side.

but yea, the seal fur is a lot coarser than the hares mask, it doesn;t compress very much either

Unwind and rewind until you find the right spacing, and they should end before the wing case.
i will give that a try later on tonight when i tie up some more
