Don't wanna give away the spot but I'll say it was in a Lake O trib. Cruising around not far from the mouth and marina.

From what I understand, they are caught way more on Erie and Niagara area. But I do remember about 10 years ago when I was first starting out my friend got a 2 pounder or so with a worm and a bobber on a different trib near the mouth.

Anyway, this one gave me a great fight. 3 times while reeling in he took off with some line and I had to relent so as to not pop the line. About 2 minutes later had him netted. 7 lbs 10 oz. Got him on a jerk bait.

Question. I have had that fishing glove in my bag since I first started and for the 2nd time this year I used it on a fish that I don't often catch. Had to de-hook while all tangled up in a net. Was afraid of getting my hand mangled up. After releasing him, I had some goo and scales on my the glove. Is this really bad for the fish? This fish was new to me. Bass and pike I am comfortable handling. Didn't even realize sheepshead don't have teeth until I looked.

use a non slip or fishing specific glove, that woolly glove will act like a sponge on the fish slime, not good for it

think i may need to look into that. this glove they sell in the fishing section at CT. but seeing how rough it is, it made me wonder how bad this is for the fish.

i dont use gloves but something rubbery is probably the way to go

I personally have never caught one in the harbour but yes they are in there. I have caught some in lake Erie and its tribs where as other people mentioned they are more common.

yes very nice fish, Never caught one, I believe they are more a Big lake fish and since I fish backwoods lakes most I have not had the chance at 1. Seen Dogfish thou, living under a friend of mines dock on the G-Bay. b

thanks for all the compliments. didn't realize what a great fight they put up. would target them if i lived near erie or other drum areas.
