Don't wanna give away the spot but I'll say it was in a Lake O trib. Cruising around not far from the mouth and marina.
From what I understand, they are caught way more on Erie and Niagara area. But I do remember about 10 years ago when I was first starting out my friend got a 2 pounder or so with a worm and a bobber on a different trib near the mouth.
Anyway, this one gave me a great fight. 3 times while reeling in he took off with some line and I had to relent so as to not pop the line. About 2 minutes later had him netted. 7 lbs 10 oz. Got him on a jerk bait.
Question. I have had that fishing glove in my bag since I first started and for the 2nd time this year I used it on a fish that I don't often catch. Had to de-hook while all tangled up in a net. Was afraid of getting my hand mangled up. After releasing him, I had some goo and scales on my the glove. Is this really bad for the fish? This fish was new to me. Bass and pike I am comfortable handling. Didn't even realize sheepshead don't have teeth until I looked.
