Heading out to the pier this weekend.

I'm sure I'm not the only one excited for the 2015 salmon run. Going to try a east trib this weekend. Maybe Friday or Saturday. I have done pretty good in previous years at this time of the year and can't wait to get chucking some spoons and rapala's. Anyone else going out this weekend? If you are going east maybe I will see you out there. Good luck and tight lines.

Probably 500 others now that you've planted the seed in their mind I'm excited about hitting the river myself but no idea when that will happen...

I have seen crowds already after that rain. I will mellow down on the salmon and wait for the steels. I'm just warming up with bass and pike.

If i said it or not they will still be showing up. I usually can avoid the groups and have many friends this year that want to catch their first salmon. So the sooner I know if they are here the more chances I have of getting them hooked into a nice Chinook . just because I say I am going out to try means nothing about the fish even being close enough to catch. I wasn't trying to help the loogans just wanted to hear from some of the other members following this site on their excitement of the season.

Honestly, I myself think it is never too early to hit the piers. It just depends where you're casting. If you have friends trying to catch their first salmons, you should hit up the piers as early as now. The chances of hooking up fresh is good and less crowd. Less crowd means better chances, better spots.

The west end piers have been extremely quiet so far this month. I have been out at least 7 or 8 times and have not seen any salmon bigger than a pound caught. It should be any night now though.

Thanks for the positive feedback and hopefully we can get bent and start off the season on a good note. Just got my center pin today and spooled and cleaned and oiled it all up.

it always starts in the east end first than usually two/ three weeks later heats up in the west. If you want better chances you should try the east piers first

Went to the east trib and there are no salmon there right now. If there was they moved to deep Water. Many carp splashing during the night and morning. Thought at night they were Chinook salmon but come morning I could see they were carp jumping out of the water. Likely eating the bugs on the surface. Looks like another week minimum and more practical would be 2 weeks from now. Water was high for this time of the year but not extremely high.
