This may seem like a silly question, but is there a certain depth of water needed to use a spinning rod and reel?

What I mean is, can this combo be used when fishing on a shallow river/stream? Or is the depth dictated by lure depth/ tackle ability? Sorry if this seems strange but I was just curious. I have never really read anything on this topic.

Sorry for double post ( could a moderator delete this one ).

thanks

You can fish shallow or deep with a spinning outfit. Your surroundings dictate what length of rod you would choose ie. you wouldn't use a 13' rod on a small wooded creek. The species that your seeking would determine the rod preference. ie. ultralight for brook trout.
