How do I cure salmon eggs?

Is it hard to catch a hen? I usually catch males or if it is a female, it looks like it already released their eggs.
Most of my salmon looks like its been in the river for a couple weeks now.

I guess, I gotta catch them early into the season?

Where's a good place to buy this Pautzke stuff on-line? I tried Fisheads but they didn't seem to sell it. thx
nope dont sell it, because I don't like the unnatural cures, nasty stuff and it can't be good for the fish :???: I suggest water hardening or Ice cold lake water and canning salt for harder eggs, leave them in for a few hours. If you want some color add food die.

Thx FH, maybe I'll try both. Would you mind describing how much salt to how much water? Why not use ordinary salt?

I understand your comment re 'nasty stuff' but I would think that a few pieces of roe soaked in 'nasty' chemicals still would not have any significant effect on a whole river (or even a creek) of water.

I've used Dollar store salt exclusively with no difference in final result, I don't think non-iodized is a factor.

Not so much the river but the fish that eats it.
