Just wait till the photos of zippered fish start rolling in from the East Gong Show...Most of those guys speaky english fine...

Choose your battles gents...

you know your right there chase u gotto pick ur battles and I know for sure its not just Asians that do these things but it seems they are most talked about so Asians that follow the rules u guys are cool in my books those who don't whether u r Asian or not not cool in my books.

I felt as tho I needed to clear this matter up because I don't want the focus to be where there from or race but I want to focus on there actions it just so happens that race gets involved when someone pulls the no English for obvious reasons

I am a Canadian born asian and I have been fishing in Ontario ever since I was small. I fish with my family and I do admit sometimes we bring home more than our limit. I was small at the time so I didn't know better so don't blame me but my family bought licenses every year and kept the places that we fished clean.

Now that I think about it, the main reason why immigrants do the things they do is because of ignorance. This ignorance comes from not knowing how to read english (my parents didn't know that much) and/or not knowing that there are laws in place because most of the time, based on where they come from, there is not enough government development for those laws to be put in place.

So in my opinion you can't blame those people fully because they don't know better. If anything, some of that blame goes towards the government's immigration program.

I propose a roving secret death squad that performs Riverdance in the river where the offenders drop their lines, that'll run em for sure. Or a bunch of Jehovah's witness fishermen passing out watchtower

Im sure there are some of these people that dont know anybetter because of the lack of knowledge of the rules, but these people that use " no english" as an excuse obviously know better and dont deserve to take part in fishing. If they only take out and dont put back in they dont deserve to fish. Those people are poachers and criminals in my books.

Just saying, you can absolutely blame them if they don't know any better. It is the law end of story. I don't go to a foreign country and not read the laws and do what I want. That is so wrong... Also, I wouldn't look to the immigration program. Some of these foreigners get their licenses from people of the same race. For example, I know of a bait shop locally near me that is run by a chinese male and he sells licenses to people who don't even speak english and for sure do not know our laws. They buy the license to just cover their asses when the MNR shows up.

I understand the whole not being able to read thing would be a huge factor, but Im not going to take up a hobby without knowing the ins-and outs of it before i decide to commit. Im sure after multiple akward stares they recieved over the year of fishing, they would know they were doing something wrong. Also im sure somewhere there is info in their language so they can learn our laws. If not, thats where you step in and let them know what they are doing is wrong.

Also whenever I got to popular spots that are usually fished, I see the 222 tips sign posted for anyone who is being harassed. And that sign is written in a few languages, therefore the line of communication is open to immigrants who like to fish, so im sure the laws are easier to aquire in their language then we all think. I have had many shitty jobs in my life before I started my career, and some were in food plants. Many of the workers were immigrants and they knew the rules while working the floor, but decided to ignore them on a daily basis, wether it be wasing hands to picking up food off the floor and packing it. One very smart immigrant I became close to explained to me that in their country the way of life is very different and quite filthy. And that basically they are so used to living that way that they bring the lifestyle with them when they immigrate. And this wasnt a shot at immigrants saying you are dirty, im just telling what I have seen and a convo I had...with a immigrant.

fully understandable dude ive done a couple things out of ignorance as the rules can be confusing even to me and I am born and raised here but the point is when u realize you are doing something wrong or are shown by someone else then own up to it apologize and change it in the future.

also blaming the gov't is not necessary with the internet any document can be converted into different languages now a days there Is no excuse, I know im gonna catch some responses from this one but I hav seen a situation where my friends dad who is from Trinidad and does not fish but sure enjoys eating them when we bring some for him cannot understand why we go fishing and release them we have tried to explain it to him but he just doesn't understand it cuz to him he grew up on an island and only fished to eat the fish to him it is not a sport. and it is not the fact he doesn't understand the language he understands it just fine it is the idea and concept of conservation and c&r because most of our fishable area in Ontario is land locked if we overfish all of these lakes there will be no tide bringing in more fish like a coastal region or island. I think he is slowly getting it but I know he thinks it stupid so I get that some people just don't grasp the concept.

So they learned enough to buy the licenses but not enough to learn what the license entitles them to? I call BS.

The language shit doesn't pull any weight either since the the regulations have been published on the internet in many languages and in print in many languages for well over a decade that I am aware of.

In my opinion fully blame those ignorant ass people regardless of race or language and punish them to the fullest extent of the law.

Lifetime fishing bans should not be off the table.

Some of these people out now-a-days are nuts! A rifle thats insane.

MNR- there could be more to that story, he coulda been onna break, lunch, he coulda been verifying someones info. The same waht I can make friends at work I am sure others could do the samel. Who knows, but to knock someone without knowing the full story just leads to issues.
If they're entitled to a 2 - 3 hours lunch break, and then vacating the premises w/o even checking for lisences... Then I'd rather use my tax dollars as kindling next time I'm camping...

I dont get why these white bucket fisherman cant just follow the laws that have been set in place..i think im just gonna move up north...its getting too congested even in hamilton anyways, and it makes me sick wen i see these guys

I hear you brother. As soon as I get a nice down payment for a house in cottage town im outta here, see ya later.

2 things
1-i have no issues with Asians or any ulture for that matter...but rules are rules..
2-i thank god and all of his disciples that fly fishing has yet to become the shit show that reguar fishing has become...the day I see a guy with a fly rod and a bucket loaded with 55 tiny brookies is the day that you might want to hit kijiji--there will be some deals on some great fly fishing rods...

its just sad to see when those people catch fish,, they dont just keep like 1-4, theyll keep like 50.
eventually give it like 2-5 years later. that same spot will have no more fish.

You haven't been on the water enough...

Honestly the safest thing is to call 911. If you are in areas that OPP is the main police force they will be there. My brother was on the water patrolling by boat the recent long weekend and busted 2 older russian men with 16 smallmouth bass in their boat and to top it off they actually came close to breaking the ontario record for a smallmouth bass at 8.52 lbs.

This is amazing its better than going to a comedy club lol, I hear exactly what u are saying "bassturd" I think that's how its spelt?? I myself have been involved in a few pretty viscous encounter's because I had the balls to stad up and say something and well all I have to say is "becareful" I understand that this is a touchy subject and well I recommend that if anyone comes across something like this then be polite approach the people in the wrong, and try to teach/show them the right and well if that doesn't work then at least u tried. Doing what I just said is still very hard for me to even do but I'm trying to be a productive citizen now lmao instead of how I used to be. Well good luck guys and tight lines

And as far as immigrants goes its not only them there's a lot of Canadians born and raised here just like me that are just as bad and if not worse I have seen it for my own eyes. I fish with a few Asians and some Polish guys and well these guys can fish they are some of the most respectful and kind fishermen that I have seen to both the fish the environment and other people in general so let's not target minority's it not only them. Well that's my 2 cents on the topic I'm heading out to find some fish :)
