Hi, I'm new..
I know it's a bit.. early for this, but I decided to get a jigging setup for pickerel all ready for the spring for when we go out..
I had done a bunch of research and found I needed a medium action rod, very sensitive, 6' or less. So, I found one, the Shimano Voltaeus (Sp?), it was 49.99, had everything I was looking for, and it seems tough. I also picked up a Shimano Sonora 2500FD reel, aswell.
Would this be a decent setup for jigging?

The reel sounds fine, and I am sure that you will be fine with the rod. As mentioned, you do not need anything special for what you plan on doing. However, I am a believer in different rod characteristics being more ideal for specific applications, and I have felt some of the Voltaeus rods, and I feel that they are a little heavy and mushy for my tastes. Use of braid can help increase the sensitivity. I would probably pick upa Lightning rod shock or Berkley Amp rod for around the same price, also using braid. But that is just me.

Good luck!
