it was freezing!.. pike report

Hey another report lol,

Went out today for a couple of hours, man it was cold! One day its 17 and the next 4 degrees. Lol.

Anyways third cast today, once again them xraps!! .. got a hit..decent pike.. the tip of my spining rod broke u can see it in the pic.



right after that I took a little break, sat in the car with the heater.cranked!... Came back and another outa season bass hits...fish was released. Decent size too. Over all good day, was out for about 2 hours.hopefullywe getone more nice day.before pike ends

Cant avoid the Bass hitting .... going to happen alot.


Just smile and release and everything is AOK.

I caught my largest Bass last year while going for the Pike as well.

Was a huge 6-7lbs large mouth.



Broke my tip on Sunday as well.

Going to try and get an exchange (Ripping the house apart looking for the Receipt) *SMILES* or in the worse case scenario, repair it.

How u guys been? oh ok its going to be chilly..Il come down on wed. It's warmer, yes I was on the east side, casting with the wind lol, bites on tht side are mote regular,but the size of pike are def bigger on the west.shore. yeah there seems to be more fish in now.

if your rods are made of graphite ...do not use in the cold as the graphite becomes brittle and the tips break when you load them up in the cast or heat of battle....
get an ugly stick with fiberglass tip or an old fiberglass rod...to use in cold weather...save the graphite for warmer weather.

We didn't find the crappie on Sunday but had a blast catching huge sunfish non-stop. We also saw two muskies spawing. They were about 15 lbs each. Really nice to see that. I tried to get a picture of them but camera is not great seeing into water. Hopefully it won't be as cold today with less wind. The pike you caught looks really fresh and hasn't been spawing yet as there are no marks on him. You can buy rod tip ends to glue onto the end of the rod at Canadian Tire. I have used them with some success.
