I am rather new to steelhead fishing. ive been a couple times and love it ! One thing that bothers me is that when I go in late november my hands get so cold I can hardly rety a knot . Is there a glove that you guys use / recomend ? Its hard to find a pair of gloves that are warm yet waterproof and are rather thin.

Would appreciate your $0.02

John

I use the one size fits all from the dollar store .. I take 8-10 pair and change as needed .. And some hot paws heating pads

Ive heard a thinly insulated leather driving glove helps, tho not water proof probably better than a cloth or thick wool mitten.

i bough a manzella open-finger gloves (camo) for $18 at lebaron's....that's what i've been using throughout winter. i'm not sure if it's still available...but i believe it's a hunting glove....

there are gloves that have all that, you got to pay the big bucks for it though. you can make poor man version by buying fingerless gloves that are mitten hybrid. and wear latex gloves under them to make it water proof. problem is though, as you sweat it keeps all the moisture on your hands and it feels wet.

also option B is, you have leaders pretied and attach them to snap swivel if you were going to lose your bait.

i use a CP, so my rod hand i put the mitten on, and on my retrieving hand i keep the mitten part off but i keep it in my pocket whole time.

But they regular thin/warm gloves then then you get them tie them to the garage door guide with fishing line and spray it with rustoleum water repellant, it can take a couple good dunkings without being phazed, you can stay use the water repellent for shoes

I use a pair of gloves that I picked up from a fly shop. They're pretty thin, but they work well as long as it's not too cold out and I don't dip them in the water.

My handle used to be Coldhands for that reason  Suck it up buttercup, it's only gonna get colder. I use some wool mittens that have a flap that folds open, come January, February I have some tight gloves they supply at work. wear under the mittens. I take them off when I warm up a bit and put then on as needed. I seen a guy who applies cork to the fixed side of his pin, great idea. For me it's no different than being at work, holding metal in the cold.

Those cheap little gloves that stretch that are like 2$ at Walmart work great. You know the ones that are wool and your mom probably bought them for you as a kid? Ive had 4 on at once...

I usually keep a pair of insulated neoprenes in the armpits of whatever jacket I have on. I almost always fish barehanded, once my hands get cold I put on the toasty warm slightly stinky gloves for 5 minutes or how ever long it takes to regain feeling.
