This morning, I went to a very suggested spot. Ken Whillans. I was there by 7:45 and was there for 5 hours and only caught 2 small largemouths. My sister caught a largemouth on her first cast. i was jealous:( but i finally caught one. it was my first ever largemouth. we caught both of them on the Rebel Frog-R in the leopard frog colour. Here are some pics.

Yep
That spot was very diappointing this year. Usually it is a very productive spot for us.
This year will all the high water levels fish are very hard to find and are scattered.

Don't be discouraged, you broke the ice! The hardest part is now done! :D

In the fall, I find the fishing really picks up!

you should try fishing for salmon in the fall or in a couple weeks you be getting like 30lb fish its crazy, as for the bass i was once fishing for pike with a rapala j13 and caught a 3inch baby largemouth lol those guys are aggressive

I would often ice fish there with my dad for stocked rainbow trout, but the winter program was stopped several years ago by the CVC for some reason. Now they only allow ice fishing at Island lake. I hear the pond has some nice Bass and Pike though.

This place used to be really good. I'm one of the ones who suggested it, last thing I expected was a post about it a few days later. They stopped stocking trout it in 2011 I believe because they were just feeding the pike.

The CVCA promoting keeping the pike for the past few years has lead to a non-existent pike population and a hurting bass one is caused by the large amount of people (none of which seem to speak english or have canadian citizenship) keeping the bass, especially OOS.

This year in May I watched a guy grab a shopping bag out of some FOB's hand and toss the 4lb+ bass back in the lake. It was out of the water for 15 minutes apparently but survived. I would have thrown the stupid poop who tried to keep it in the water too if given the chance.

lol ive seen that happen once when someone ( from a certain nationality i wont mention ) treid keeping 6 SALMON not 1 or 2 but 6 !!! one after another, this guy comes up grabs the foreigners rod throws it in a bush and while hes getting that he throws all salmon back in, 5 of which made it, i was laughing so hard i almost fell into the river lol

Lol ya man, if it were me their gear would be in the lake with the fish. I think everyone (within reason) needs to step up and try to enforce these rules ourselves.

Don't go beating people up or stealing their stuff, but if you know they are doing something wrong TELL them. If they still don't listen DO SOMETHING. If you aren't a confrontational kind of person then just follow them back to their car, take pictures and send their info on to the MNR

Better yet, get pictures of these people and start a thread of illegal fishers lol

ALSO on a side note if someone can disprove me that there are no pike left in there please PM me.

i also have the sentiment that the fishing here is down recently. i used to catch bass between 1 and 2 lbs many times here. never got skunked twice in a row. since i live within 15 minutes, i've been many times. but i've been shutout 5 times in a row now since last summer, though i only fish it for 1.5 hours at a time since i only go here after work. and i fish by inflatable. i used to catch them trolling and casting but it's completely fallen off for me.

definitely a good place to learn the basics.
